Almost 45 years later, an NBC related network leaves a game before it ends...

So last night, I wanted to see if Andres Cantor was doing the USA vs Antigua/Barbuda match on Telemundo (I already watched a little bit on ESPN) and right at the stroke of 9 PM Eastern/8 PM Central, there was one of Telemundo's new hit telenovelas...problem is the match still had 3 or 4 minutes of regulation time left plus 3 minutes added on!

NBC Universal, here we go again...instead of the "Heidi Bowl" we have the "Corozon Valiente Bowl"!

Since I'm on this subject, were any NASL or MLS matches on ABC ever pre-empted on Saturday afternoons?

I don't believe many folks will find the nickname "Corazón valiente Bowl" as catchy as "Heidi Bowl", which I never liked as a nickname from the moment I saw it years ago when it was used in reference to NBC breaking away from the football game between the New York Jets and the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, November 17th, 1968 in order to present the TV version of "Heidi" produced in 1968 on time through their network stations in the Central and Eastern time zones.

...not comparable, since (a) the team that was behind in scoring at the time Telemundo quit the game, Antigua & Barbuda, did not score any points in the dark (for Telemundo) minutes of the game, and therefore did not come from behind to win the game, as the Raiders did against the Jets in 1968; and (b) there are no major characters or cast members of Corazón Valiente named Heidi :D ...

...and (C) the game was on ESPN if you really wanted to see the finish anywoo.

Still, Telemundo shouldn't have been in THAT much of a hurry. Seriously.
