Alpha Media Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection

I've never said there isn't. It's MY opinion, that they shouldn't be allowed to. I am entitled to an opinion, last time I checked.

I dont really find a problem with it.. if theyre operating legally, paying their bills, it keeps stations on, communities informed and people employed... cheers to them.

sometimes i think those who have a problem with foriegners owning stations is because they think theres some ulterior motive and agenda or something fishy going on.... very old school thinking.

We also have to remember that other countries aren't as provincial as we are, and in fact several US-based radio companies as well as the US government own radio stations in lots of countries.

And as much of a radio nerd as i am, theres some of this i didnt realize.... until years and years after the fact.

There are good radio stations, radio networks and audio brands around the world. It might give US radio a shot in the arm.
The largest commercial operator of radio stations in the world is PRISA, a Spanish company, with more than 1.250 owned or administered stations. They own in 7 nations: Portugal, México, España, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica y Panamá, and lease or administer in Ecuador, Paraguay, Guatemala, Honduras y República Dominicana.

PRISA has extensive new media operations.

They have TV and print and related businesses, and diverse related operations such as the major newsprint provider in Argentina among many others.

Vivendi owns just under 10% of PRISA; Carlos Slim has 4%.
