Alpine car stereos

Anyone here actually have experience with Alpine car stereos?

I've had minimal experience with them, but they have great sound quality.

I'm primarily concerned with:

1) FM front end overload (ie: ability to tune other stations while near FM transmitters)

2) Selectivity (ability to tune 1st adjacents)

I currently have a Pioneer SuperTunerIIID, but it doesn't handle front end overload very well and the sound quality isn't even close to that of Alpine.

Should I get an Alpine? Any particular type? Or should I stick with the Pioneer.

My old Alpine was absoutley fantastic when it came to both. My pioneer is good but there are times when I miss having the old Alpine...

JVC

Any JVC with the HSIII-i tuner. You can find them in the Arsenal series

Unlike the Pioneer SuperTuner III-D, you can turn off the adaptive IF (which does add distortion under certain listening conditions). Unlike the Blaupunkt Digiceiver, when you turn OFF the adaptive IF on the JVC to reduce distortion, the selectivity doesn't go to hell (the Blaupunkt has poor selectivity when the SHARX is off.. you wonder if this is done on purpose to contrast the settings... in the JVC, the change is much more subtle but effective).

For FM, the JVC is, IMHO, right now, the best for FM reception and for AM *audio* quality (although the AM suffers from some overload problems in high RF areas).
