Just heard from a source that Bruce St. James is already out at KMLE and KZON.

I worked with Bruce for 4 years at KTAR. He's a good guy. I hope his next gig's a good one.

"Once in a lifetime," from what I hear. You can't beat that.
Ford said:...your post made me think about PPM in a new (and depressing) way. Back when we all lived and died by "the book," you could count on your new gig for at least the first couple of them. Probably, you were safe until that four book average washed out.
Well now we've got this thing that measures listening in real time. You don't have to wait for the book to get printed and shipped to the station. No, your results can be measured on a minute-by-minute basis.
I have a very bad feeling that some very short-sighted people could use this "instant dis-gratisfication" (I just made that word up) to justify changing everything from air talent to imaging to the program director.
Is that too paranoid?

Set in 1983, ratings were measured by direct electronic feedback and displayed digitally on a readout on the station wall (picture the NY Stock Exchange big board showing the second-by-second fluctuations of the Dow).
The PD pulls a record because "we lost 7/100ths of a point on the MediaPulse instant feedback board..I mean, there it is in day-glo orange."
The entire station is plunged into paranoia from the jock to the PD to the GM to the owner...who's worried about the stockholders.
It's very funny...and prophetic...even if it took longer than six years to come true. It's on Reelradio.com.
