Must be the curse of the corner office.... What a shame.

Conan O'Brien had a longer run.... :D

I'm stunned. PPMs show KZON leading KZZP and KMLE close to KNIX.

I worked with Bruce for 4 years at KTAR. He's a good guy. I hope his next gig's a good one.

The way I read the news (on All Access) it seems like maybe he's already got the next gig.

That said, your post made me think about PPM in a new (and depressing) way. Back when we all lived and died by "the book," you could count on your new gig for at least the first couple of them. Probably, you were safe until that four book average washed out.

Well now we've got this thing that measures listening in real time. You don't have to wait for the book to get printed and shipped to the station. No, your results can be measured on a minute-by-minute basis.

I have a very bad feeling that some very short-sighted people could use this "instant dis-gratisfication" (I just made that word up) to justify changing everything from air talent to imaging to the program director.

Is that too paranoid?

In radio, there's no such thing as "too paranoid".

In 1977, TM Productions filled the second side of a jingle demo LP with a comedy called "Tomorrow Radio". Set in 1983, ratings were measured by direct electronic feedback and displayed digitally on a readout on the station wall (picture the NY Stock Exchange big board showing the second-by-second fluctuations of the Dow).

The PD pulls a record because "we lost 7/100ths of a point on the MediaPulse instant feedback board..I mean, there it is in day-glo orange."

The entire station is plunged into paranoia from the jock to the PD to the GM to the owner...who's worried about the stockholders.

It's very funny...and prophetic...even if it took longer than six years to come true. It's on Reelradio.com.

I think I've also found it at http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/2007/04/365_days_111_tm.html

That's it...it is so worth the listen. Especially Charlie Van Dyke's promos for the station before and after the format switch.

My guess, and it's only a guess is that BStJ will end up with Ankarlo's shift at KTAR. Just sayin...

No. Bruce is headed to be PD at KTAR-FM. Russ Hill is leaving but they don't want to announce it yet.

Perhaps we could have a bbq at Bruce's house after they announce his new job? ;D

Will "closeted" posters be welcome?

You should probably discuss that issue with your therapist, Dr. Take heart, though, after several years of living in the closet, even Ricky Martin now qualifies to attend bbq's at Casa Pratt! ;)

Ok, I was close. Good move for KTAR.
