Why don't you go back to listening to your Puddle of Mudd CD you ----- and leave the adults alone! [EDIT]

[EDIT-inflammatory]

I dont think ALT Rock is in any way a nerd rock format, I am however confused about what Alternative Rock is now days. Im still pretty passionate about Club-Dance music, but it seems my taste's are leaning more Rock these days, but I think I may be more into Active Rock, I dunno, you guys tell me. I like bands like Seether, Alter Bridge, Linkin Park, Social Burn, Taproot, 3 door's down, three days grace, GASP<< Puddle of Mudd.... And for radio, I like my local 103.3 The X WRZX Indianapolis, but also I listen to 105.7 The point St Louis (everything alternative), 94.3 The X in Knoxville TN.... But I also like WOXY 97X, CD 101 Columbus, and the popular Indie 103.1 in L.A, I also like 93.3 The Planet in Greenville S.C, but I dont like it when they play Classic Rock ocassionally.

I am Confused, because most stations I listen to call themselves Alternative, but everyone tells me my taste in music is not Alternative, but more Active Rock. But I hate stations that mix classic rock with New Rock, and that's what I always thought of as active rock.

Active rock is your cup of tea mid west clubber no ifs ands or buts but obviously you like to change it up every now and again with woxy but your a rocker dude!!!

But I also like stuff like Scissor Sisters and Modest Mouse, and Franz Fernidad. I also like alot of AAA stations, especially Yours down in Louisville HP,,, WFPK Owns for an NPR station. I honestly dont really care for stations like THE FOX in Louisville, or THE New WLRS because I never was a fan of mixing Clasic Rock with the new stuff....

Maybe my taste's are actually what you would call Modern Rock,,, I am a big Disturbed fan, so I guess a station like Indie 103.1 and CD 101 wouldnt play anything that hard.

Cant I just simply be labeled a Music fan who enjoys everything from Alternative to AAA to Active, to Dance-Electronica, on up to Top 40. I dont like the fueding between what true Alternative is.... To me, if it sounds good im gonna like it.... Its all still rock n roll to me.

Actually, those stations should be called Modern Rock, but for one reason or another they're called Alternative. I agree with you on that rock stations shouldn't mix New Rock with Classic Rock, especially if they are the only rock station playing the most amount of New Rock in the area, for example WRTT-The Rocket.

I think to myself, if those classic rock stations in the same market doesn't play new rock then why stations like WRTT play classic rock at all? I imagine there's some sort of a marketable reason behind it, but I have a hard time buying into that.

exactly the problem with atlanta. they killed 99x to make it classic rock. we already had classic soft rock, classic oldies rock, classic listen while u work rock, classic shoot me if i ever heard a song not 30 years old rock.
project 961 is closest thing to decent and they still throw old crap like van halen, guns and roses 80s metal i nthere. if theyd stick with new alt i wouldnt be pushing buttons so much. that and there morning show sux.

Bob Mould, Jack White, Nels Cline, Johnny Mars, and even Peter Buck can play guitar quite well!

You said it, pal! Not only that, but these nerd idiots who listen to this crap think they're all that. They think that, since their music is better than other music, in turn, they themselves are better than everyone else who doesn't listen to alternative music. They think that because their music isn't found much on radio, that radio in general owes them something -- owes them their music being played on the radio. They believe that that all music heard on radio is corporately controled, simply because radio isn't playing their music, and, according to most alternative music lovers, radio should play their music because alternative music is better than all other music, and they are better than people who don't listen to alternative music. Got my drift? Yeah, I know, the attitude of these people is disturbing, but then again, maybe we shouldn't pick on nerds so much .

To all you alternative music lovers reading this: Personally, I don't like your music. I think it's crap! I'm a dance music fan. However, that doesn't make any difference. I am no better of a person than you, and vise versa. If you can't understand that, then, you ARE losers.

Okay, enough from me. I'm now going to try and find a dance music station, even though the "Corporate controled" radio 'round here isn't playing it. Hmmm. Guess there is other music besides alternative that isn't being corporately shoved down our throats after all...

Have a nice day.

u r a 'goth wannabe that likes dance music'. rite ok.
do u mean emo??

u wanna be goth, go 4 it, u wanna dance, go 4 it. i never thought alt fans were better than guys like u but now that i read ur post, u know what, ur right, we r better. least we know what we want what we like to listen to and were not wannabes.
btw my gothIC friends most like alt. never heard 1 want dancing music. whatever turns u on dude.

hey gothwannabe dancing queen, i think i hear usher playing in the next RI board over.

Definitely agree with Inside your head. Although I don't like theradiokid's type of music, I'm not over in the dance board or whatever it's called trashing that kind of music. Granted, I have trash the active rock format before on this board, but alternative and active rock are somewhat related unlike dance and rock which are completely different.

My answers to InsideYourHead:

“u r a ‘goth wannabe that likes dance music’. …” Yes I am. “… rite ok. Du u mean emo??” No. I do not mean emo. I know I’m just a wanna-be, but the one thing I’ve gathered from all my observing of Goths is that Goth and Emo are 2 different things completely, and, in fact, it is an insult to call a Goth Emo.

“u wanna be goth, go 4 it, u wanna dance, go 4 it. I never thought alt fans were better than guys like u but now that I read ur post, u know what, ur right, we r better. …” It’s that kind of attitude that makes people like me think less of alt fans. They all seem to have that “We’re better than you, cuzz your music sucks.” Attitude. If only there was an alt music fan out there that doesn’t judge people by the music they listen to… Oh well… (Sigh.) “… least we know what we want what we like to listen to and were not wannabes.” Oh yeah? Well at least I know where I stand. I know for sure that I’m not cool. I know that, because of my disability and social status, I will never be a Goth, and, to me, the wanna-be, Goths are the coolest people in the world. I know where I stand, and unlike fans of alternative music, I don’t pretend that I’m cool, and I don’t judge other people by the music they listen to. To me, people are people. Oh, yeah, I know what you’re gonna write next: “If you’re not judgmental, then why do you have such a bad opinion of us alt music fans?” I’ll explain that later, so keep reading. As for the comment about knowing what I like to listen to, for your information, dance is my favorite music. However, I like most kinds of music. My second favorite format is AAA (Adult Album Alternative.) I like Smooth Jazz music. I like JPop music. I like New Age and Chill music. I like fifties and sixties oldies, and other music, too. However, when you alt music fans read that I like dance music, you suddenly decided that I was less of a person, and you judged me accordingly. And, because you never asked, you would have always assumed that I was a dance music only listener, and you would have been wrong.
“btw: my gothIC friends most like alt. …” Well, I’m just a wanna-be here. I’ve always wanted to ask a Goth about the music they listen to. My question for you, InsideYourHead, is: Really? Are you sure about that statement? I’d really like to know what your Gothic friends are listening to. If it is the case that they do mostly listen to alternative music like you say, then, I might wanna consider looking for a good alt (internet) radio station (and making sure that my medicine cabinet is stocked with plenty of Aspirin.) “… never heard of 1 want dancing music. …” Well, I’m not a Goth yet, but… Hello. I’m the Radio Kid, and I’m a Goth wanna-be that mostly likes dance music. It’s nice to meet you via this board. “… whatever turns u on dude.”

Hey gothwannabe dancing queen, i think i hear usher playing in the next RI board over.” I’m headed there very shortly.

For all you alt music fans out there: Just remember, it’s not the music a person listens to that makes a person, it’s the person themselves. I will never say that dance music is better than alt music. And, to me, you are no better than I am. However, I don’t think very highly of alt music fans because of the way they have treated me as a person. I went to a community college, and for the most part, the main music people listened to was Alternative. And, because I don’t listen to that kind of music, these people didn’t want to associate with me. They would always tell me how much better they were because they didn’t listen to “loser music.” These Alternative music fans didn’t want to get to know me as a person because of my choice of music. And, really, if that’s how you people determine who is and isn’t a worthy person for this earth, then, it doesn’t bode well for your reputation. Maybe if you would treat people as people, you wouldn’t get posts from people like myself and that other gentlemen calling you losers. I like to treat people as people, but because of my experiences with alt music lovers in the past, I guess you could say that I don’t think highly of them. To me, I like dance, you like alt. So what. Big deal. If you would take the time to actually look at me as a person, instead of judging me, and saying you’re better than me because of our different musical tastes, we might actually be able to have some worth while discussions on this board. Just something to think about.

I hope you all have a nice Momorial Day weekend.

I see what you are trying to say. I think part of this "better than you are" attitude is because the way today's radio treats alternative and lets it slowly slip away while it favors the other formats over it, possibly due to the popularity of American Idol and Guitar Hero.

Btw, I do like other kinds of music but not as much as alternative.

Good point BlueWanderer. However, keep in mind that dance radio is in the same boat right now. There are only 13 dance radio stations in the country. However, I don't sence the same "our music is better, so we're better than you" attitude from dance music fans that an alt music fan has. Dance music is not better than Alternative music, and I am not a better person than you are.

Actually, it's the dance music fanatics who're far more overbearing. Many of them actually think that their music will revolutionize the world, and they automatically label its detractors as "haters".
