My answers to InsideYourHead:
“u r a ‘goth wannabe that likes dance music’. …” Yes I am. “… rite ok. Du u mean emo??” No. I do not mean emo. I know I’m just a wanna-be, but the one thing I’ve gathered from all my observing of Goths is that Goth and Emo are 2 different things completely, and, in fact, it is an insult to call a Goth Emo.
“u wanna be goth, go 4 it, u wanna dance, go 4 it. I never thought alt fans were better than guys like u but now that I read ur post, u know what, ur right, we r better. …” It’s that kind of attitude that makes people like me think less of alt fans. They all seem to have that “We’re better than you, cuzz your music sucks.” Attitude. If only there was an alt music fan out there that doesn’t judge people by the music they listen to… Oh well… (Sigh.) “… least we know what we want what we like to listen to and were not wannabes.” Oh yeah? Well at least I know where I stand. I know for sure that I’m not cool. I know that, because of my disability and social status, I will never be a Goth, and, to me, the wanna-be, Goths are the coolest people in the world. I know where I stand, and unlike fans of alternative music, I don’t pretend that I’m cool, and I don’t judge other people by the music they listen to. To me, people are people. Oh, yeah, I know what you’re gonna write next: “If you’re not judgmental, then why do you have such a bad opinion of us alt music fans?” I’ll explain that later, so keep reading. As for the comment about knowing what I like to listen to, for your information, dance is my favorite music. However, I like most kinds of music. My second favorite format is AAA (Adult Album Alternative.) I like Smooth Jazz music. I like JPop music. I like New Age and Chill music. I like fifties and sixties oldies, and other music, too. However, when you alt music fans read that I like dance music, you suddenly decided that I was less of a person, and you judged me accordingly. And, because you never asked, you would have always assumed that I was a dance music only listener, and you would have been wrong.
“btw: my gothIC friends most like alt. …” Well, I’m just a wanna-be here. I’ve always wanted to ask a Goth about the music they listen to. My question for you, InsideYourHead, is: Really? Are you sure about that statement? I’d really like to know what your Gothic friends are listening to. If it is the case that they do mostly listen to alternative music like you say, then, I might wanna consider looking for a good alt (internet) radio station (and making sure that my medicine cabinet is stocked with plenty of Aspirin.) “… never heard of 1 want dancing music. …” Well, I’m not a Goth yet, but… Hello. I’m the Radio Kid, and I’m a Goth wanna-be that mostly likes dance music. It’s nice to meet you via this board. “… whatever turns u on dude.”
Hey gothwannabe dancing queen, i think i hear usher playing in the next RI board over.” I’m headed there very shortly.
For all you alt music fans out there: Just remember, it’s not the music a person listens to that makes a person, it’s the person themselves. I will never say that dance music is better than alt music. And, to me, you are no better than I am. However, I don’t think very highly of alt music fans because of the way they have treated me as a person. I went to a community college, and for the most part, the main music people listened to was Alternative. And, because I don’t listen to that kind of music, these people didn’t want to associate with me. They would always tell me how much better they were because they didn’t listen to “loser music.” These Alternative music fans didn’t want to get to know me as a person because of my choice of music. And, really, if that’s how you people determine who is and isn’t a worthy person for this earth, then, it doesn’t bode well for your reputation. Maybe if you would treat people as people, you wouldn’t get posts from people like myself and that other gentlemen calling you losers. I like to treat people as people, but because of my experiences with alt music lovers in the past, I guess you could say that I don’t think highly of them. To me, I like dance, you like alt. So what. Big deal. If you would take the time to actually look at me as a person, instead of judging me, and saying you’re better than me because of our different musical tastes, we might actually be able to have some worth while discussions on this board. Just something to think about.
I hope you all have a nice Momorial Day weekend.
