Alt Rock returning to Memphis

Flinn is breaking the simulcast to try Alt Rock on 96.1 again.

I thought simulcasting the Q made good sense and probably helped with sales in Desoto County also. Last time they tried Alternative I don't remember hearing many commercials at all.

I don't see any impact with it being on this signal that mostly covers rural N Miss and Desoto County. It just seems like the wrong format. You what the say about opinions though...........

I wonder if the stunting choice of Blister in the Sun means it will be more of a classic alternative presentation?

On a signal covering the full metro and run on a tight budget and a sales staff they might be able to keep the lights on. In several markets where Alt Rock vanished it has returned. It's pulling numbers on an AM/FM Translator in Montgomery. The translator is located in the heart of the city.
Clear Channel just flipped a CHR to the format in Atl.

KROQ in LA is a top biller in that market.

To answer your question though it's a niche format here in the mid-south. If the music is typical 90s flair with a dose of retro and something new occasionally I will probably listen allot. I'm 40 so I guess I'm in the Demo.

96.1 doesn't have enough signal in Memphis to really be successful in any format, but 90s alternative on that frequency has ZERO chance.

Wasn't there a short-lived alt-rock station on 96.1 Tupelo about 2000, after the demise of WRXQ 95.7 (the original 96X, that this new station wants to revive). Lack of online streaming is going to hurt as that signal is a true rimshot (or really airball).
