Alternative format is reborn...

Word is that beginning Monday, June 8'th, alternative music will be heard on WEGR 102.7-2 HD.

For the 37 people that have bought HD radios, that's great news...For the rest of us, Alternative is alive and well on Sirius/XM and on our Ipods.

The music is great but it sounds like crap when it's on the air. It doesn't sound like crap because it's an HD2 either. WRVR and WKNO's HD2's sound great.

I have an HD radio and I use it almost daily. In addition to XM, DVD's full of MP3's, and the USB port which I use thumb drives in.

I wonder who the other 36 people are. I don't think many people who work at stations listen to the HD sub streams honestly. Some go off for days and no one seems to notice.

Since the SiriusXM merger, for my tastes, most of the "rock" channels are nothing near "alternative" anymore. That includes the tight rotations on the "indie" channel and the non stop new wave best of on 44 that replaced Fred.

yes I agree. Chill plays the same music everyday now. It was by far my favorite channel. The took off the move and ruined many other channels. Nothing they changed was an improvement. I tried to cancel and they have be 1 radio free for 3 months and 1 reduced for 3 months. Its about time to decide to keep it or not or pay full price again.

Tell me about it. BPM, which was supposed to be the "pure dance" channel, has been playing more older dance tunes since the merger.

Well i like the older tunes they are playing actually. It makes the format sound more well rounded and less repetitive. And BPM is very repetitive.
