AM 1110 Off The Air?

There's a common thread to anyone saying they have a harder time with 107.9 than 1110. They're not inside the rated Charlotte market - and listeners outside the rated market contribute nothing at all to the bottom line, which is the only thing Radio One (or any commercial broadcaster) cares about.

I can’t imagine that being even possible though, I’m in Laurens County, SC where 107.9 booms in, in HD in many cases. 1110’s noise floor is so awful you have to turn the radio all the way up to understand it on a good day.

I imagine a lot of this “signal” talk may be potential bias toward 1110 vs. 107.9.

WTBI was a bit ahead of their time. My dad had some relatives that went to their church and I remember my parents trying to connect to their share-a-thon programming online in 1997 or 1998 over 56kbps dial up. The connection and quality were awful, but they were ahead of many stations with streaming!

Roger on all that. WTBI and WSOF were both ahead of their time, re: streaming. Light & Truth Radio Network WTBI Side-note, the former long-time Pastor of Island Ford Baptist Church, the late Dr. Gary L. Hall, was a former Tabernacle graduate.

In Greenville County WBT-107.9 from Charlotte is subject to interference. Ironically often from another Radio One station Hot 107.9 in Atlanta, and perhaps some local LPFMs. The WBT signal is indeed there, and the HD will lock on at various select locations. But it is inconsistent due to the interference. Once you get into Laurens County or Spartanburg County, it is much stronger. And driving down I-26 toward Columbia, WBT-107.9 will last almost to the Harbison Rd. exit, then you have interference from a low power religious station. Although I have had the HD lock on in the parking lot at the Columbiana Mall. Which by the way, the Belk in that mall has a very large stand alone men's store. And the Rush's burger joint is right next to the mall. Which is usually why I stop there.

But in all these fringe areas, 1110 presents a decent signal where 107.9 can be subject to interference. Which I know is not a business concern for Radio One, but fringe listeners can nevertheless benefit from the 1110 signal. I get a very decent signal from 1110 in Greenville County on my car radio, normally minimal static. But I guess that can vary by vehicle.
 
And I will also observe that signals from 95.1, 96.1, and 101.9 often tend to be better in Greenville County than 107.9. And they all transmit from a similar location. 95.1 is really good, and the HD locks on very well. But I suppose this is due to engineering issues or variations in interference in fringe areas.

There are times when summer/fall skip happens and 107.9 gets wiped out by another station on the coast. This happens in East Charlotte - Monroe. Admittedly only for around a week, mostly mornings.

I'm to the point I really don't care anymore since 95% of my listening is to satellite channels whos worst enemies are sometimes trees on the south side of the road.

I did here a little bit of Vince Coakley today and he wasn't exactly pro Trump. I was surprised.

As of this date AM 730 is still on with a dead carrier!

We really have to be tolerant of auto-correct as so many of us use it for the composition of messages and email and the like.
