Considering this station's legacy... I would suggest that petitions can bring awareness to the situation. Do petitions themselves do anything? Yes, if only to bring awareness. If the mods here do not want awareness raised about a historical radio site's potential demolition, that says more about them than about the people signing and sharing the petition.
From my understanding, neither the radio station owner nor the property owner has provided any communication about the matter. Not that they are required to... no one is ever required to do anything except by law. But there is professionalism, respect... neither of those is required in society, and they are becoming less and less, because "who cares", right? A simple statement about efforts to preserve it, or even having a public discussion about the history and legacy to find a buyer who would be willing to maintain it... Unless it is the liberal city management that wants it gone so they can push for development, i.e., more taxes on the location. This is a radio discussion board. Who here actually cares if the stations exist beyond the conversations, right?
What I surmise is that the radio station management contacted Lance and told him to remove it. Otherwise, a note could have been made about "petitions" if that is the reason. Of course, this is only my speculation. Some mod may have deleted it because they don't like me. 🤷♂️
I was once forced by Streamline to delete a thread on these boards because of the influence of a C-level exec in a radio group, which I refused to do, which is why I quit, and Frank was given the reins. The Streamline editor at the time, Ed, deleted the thread in question. It's neither here nor there, just background info.

If all the people wasting their time to sign their name on a petition that isn’t going anywhere, instead used that time to volunteer at a food bank, or raising money for some other cause that would actually benefit everyone in Charlotte, that would be a much better use of their time.
LOL. It takes 2 minutes to sign a petition. Volunteering time and raising money, I would suggest, takes more than that. One can actually do both with no extra effort. And no one knows what will become of the petition. It may create enough awareness that an investor who is also a radio fan may purchase the property. To dismiss the effectiveness of the petition is short-sighted. I'm not saying it WILL make a difference, but it could. And that is the hope. What is anything without hope?

Boz, I know how much you know about the business. We go back a ways.
When was the last time any online petition was ever taken seriously, much less acted upon?
You and I both know we would be searching in vain to find one.
OTOH, if there's something on the FCC docket that I feel strongly about, I don't hesitate to file comments via their website.

Well, we all know how often that happens ... people get enthusiastic and post without checking for duplication beforehand.
But I still think the petition is doomed to fail. About the only way I see to preserve the WBT location is to get local government involved in declaring it a historical site. A petition ain't a-gonna do that.
It was on around noon today with the loop they've been running for seven months.
Yes I am disappointed they decided to sell out 1110 and not keep a simulcast with 107.9. Like when WSB moved to 95.5 and kept the simulcast on 750. The 750 signal fills in gaps in the fringes that 95.5 does not reach. When I travel 85 south to Atlanta, I can pull in 750 between Greenville and Anderson to update news and traffic information. You basically have to cross Lake Hartwell and get into Georgia before you can pick up 95.5. Of course I miss the heyday of listening to Neal Boortz on the way down there.
KYW got a class A FM simulcast that would not be sustainable signal wise on its own. Audacy got what they could get for it. It isn’t viable to discontinue KYW on 1060 when the 103.9 signal is deficient from what I’ve read, in parts of the actual market where there are ad dollars.
107.9 covers the entire market where the advertisers are. So does 95.5 FM for WSB. Radio is not a goodwill service. While I enjoy getting out of market stations as much as the next person, I understand it’s a business and the goal is to make money for advertisers inside a certain rated DMA.
