AM 1110 Off The Air?

This thread started about WBT being off the air in April.
The petition to save WBT's legacy was started 1 month ago.
2 different conversations.
Sometimes, threads do get derailed, then get back on-topic, but in this case, it just morphed or maybe just expanded.
I heard a station ID this morning and it turns out my clock radio is on 107.9 WBT. I thought it was on WFAE (I turn it off quickly), but the people talking didn't sound quite sophisticated enough for that station. This particular clock radio is almost impossible to understand but I think when setting the frequency I started out on 88.1. No, it does not display the information that is needed to do ANYTHING.

They're just old... I wouldn't say "WBT 1110 no interest". Obviously there is with 11 pages and going. My point was simply that it's a different conversation.
1000+ signatures seem to matter in the world of petitions. It got someone's attention.
Agreed. At this point they're probably hoping that everyone will forget about someone having promised a new format, and they probably will, aside from pesky radio hobbyists and media watchers who discuss the matter among themselves.
Was there any excitement in the air in Charlotte about it? Or do people there just accept it as the natural order of things, that national syndicated conservative talk (Hannity, Beck, Clay and Buck, and so on) are on lesser-known stations on the edges of the market, and that you kind of have to seek them out?
Anyone who cares just listens on the iHeart app. But these shows have not been carried on a major Charlotte signal recently, so most Charlotte residents are probably unaware they currently have a radio show.
Like most things, the FCC does not seem to police this at all. One of my former employers hasn't updated their issues file in three years and hasn't been fined yet.

It's also two ends of the spectrum, in more ways than one.And there would be a lot of people in Charlotte on the other end of the political spectrum, who, if they think about it at all, are probably relieved that these shows aren't available on a major Charlotte station.

What is not generally known (but I will do my part to change that) is that the online system at the FCC for stations to update their public file has been extremely flaky over the past year or so. I know of at least three stations who have been trying to get into the system to update their public files, but get "error in username and/or password" messages ... and when they go to change their password, the new password doesn't work either.
Which is why I am not surprised that the FCC hasn't issued any Public File NAVs lately. And I have no idea why they haven't been able to fix it.

Not the newest of suggestions, and one that would have made sense if they had thought this through in the first place.
Maybe they had a plan for 1110. I doubt that they would admit it now if they'd had such a plan, because if it existed it obviously blew up before it could be implemented. But that still would not have precluded a simulcast on 107.9 until they were actually ready to put something else on 1110.
The fact that this has gone on so long makes it easy to conclude there was at least some incompetence here.
Do they still plan on actually having something for 1110? Seeing as the land is for sale, I'd say not. There are still some moving parts in this situation, though, from what I see and as is customary with moving parts, some are moving in the wrong direction.
