It sounds like pigs being tortured and it has been going on for a couple of weeks, sometimes starting as early as 10:00PM and continuing on and off until generally around 5:00AM. Although it sounds like pigs being tortured, it is probably the sound of human voices slowed WAY down. My guess is it's slowed down by more than a factor of two--but I'm not sure. If it were only a 2:1 slowdown, wouldn't I be able to decipher the words being spoken? I can't do that at all. I suppose it's possible that, when sped back up, there would be no real English words--just sounds that resemble words. If somebody cares enough and has a tape recorder that can play back recordings at a speed higher than that at which the recording was made, we might find out what the original material was. For now, though, it is some of the weirdest-sounding stuff I have heard on the radio since "Surfin' Bird" was popular. (Bird, bird, bird; the bird is the word.)

AM 1120--weird sounds overnight

Can you post an mp3 file somewhere or email me the file? I want to hear this for myself lol. Ill keep my radio tuned to 1120 tonight and see if I can hear it.
.....boy and they were doing so well over there at AM1120 for a great while. Seems to just keep getting worse. Very sad, guess that Armstrong guy may not know what he's doing over there after all! Should stick to the finance business I'd say......

You'll have to find someone who has the necessary equipment and software, who lives within the limited range of WBNW's night signal, is willing to either capture hours of WBNW overnight and then edit them down to a few minutes of weird noises or sit by the recording setup to capture a few minutes worth, convert them to mp3, and then post the mp3 at a site to which he can provide a link in a message here.

Folks, we run replays over night of our live programming. The recordings are automated, resulting in some files being corrupt. Unfortunately, we have not pinpointed the exact reason why this is happening with our software. We are continuing to monitor it. We plan to add more Bloomberg hours overnight.

What I reported was absolutely not splatter (sounded nothing at all like splatter) and was not my imagination. It sounded like the noises that pigs make--low audio frequencies in the same register as a deep-bass male human voice. The sounds were divided into discreet syllables but did not consist of intelligible words.
