Have my ears deceived me or did I hear Blount County Broadcasting's AM 1140 WLOD airing "Classic Country" again today? Have they dropped to WKVL simulcast?
After reading your post, I checked out 1140 this afternoon and they were playing country oldies. I had a real weak signal in Knoxville and never heard a station ID to confirm the station, so this will be something to follow up on.
Yeah, WLOD is Legal ID'ing at the top of the hour. But AM 850 WKVL is still ID'ing WLOD too. Also, anybody know what's up with the AC hum on AM 850? For the past couple of days they don't sound as clean and loud as usual and they have that hum. Very annoying.
As a fan of old school radio I want to see these old AM properties survive, however in the real world, most people under 50 years old don't even acknowledge the existence of these primarily daytimer properties. Dick Broadcasting had this figured out back in the 80's.
