AM 1230 FALLOUT CONTINUES--FORMER ADVERTISER SUCCESS ON WEB CAST

No, you missed the point by bringing up the billing.

Typical right-wing rhetoric. Put some distraction in the way to accuse the opposition of ignorance.

Sure, glitches occur. But according to Del, this glitch continued for several hours--and occurred on numerous occasions--and Clear Channel simply didn't care.

I must agree, CC seems not to care.. I am from the right of center, but this is a 'no one really cares' attitude from the ownership cluster group that really does not know what they want to do with the little 1kw station... With that attitude, no format will succeed on it... "A dog chases the tail"...Ruff-Ruff! ::)

First off, that was a trend. It was not a rating's book. Second, just listen to the station. There are plenty of local advertisers on there... something you never heard when it was progressive... except for, of course that $163 you spent for the 2 years it was progressive, which you remind everyone on every post. I guess your AE must've been doing you a disservice. It appears she is selling plenty of the right-wing stuff...

I would call falling to almost the level of audience prior to becoming a progressive talk station more than a trend.

And I don't listen to Cowtown radio so much anymore. Ed Schultz now offers free .mp3 of his shows, and Stephanie is very affordable as far as a yearly subscription.

As for my rep...she left Clear Channel to devote more time to her family.

And I spent a good deal more than $162 on advertising with the station.

And until you can provide concrete evidence that the advertising the station is getting isn't at bargain basement prices, you have no case.

Further, until you and you right-wing cohorts come out from hiding under your usernames and prove yourselves as being credible, you can just sit back and enjoy what Columbus radio has become in a very short period of time. This market, largely the fault of Clear Channel, has lost some very talented radio professionals over the years. And until minimum-wage board ops and slightly more than minimum-wage program directors no longer are the norm in this market, what you currently hear--especially on the AM dial--is exactly what you deserve.

Seany, ol buddy, you're missing the point. It's called a trend. I was pointing out it isn't a ratings book... yet. I don't expect it to me much better though. 1230 will always be exactly what it is... a throw away signal. However, it IS all about revenue. I have no idea what advertising costs there, but I'm sure you could call and tell them you're interested in advertising there and ask how much it costs. They'll tell you. I still think if you're selling it for cheap and at least selling it to local advertisers, it's still more revenue than not selling it at all, as seemed to be the case as a progressive station. You can't blame station management when advertisers did not want to associate with the format.

Be careful, PBF: You're likely to get a veiled threat from Sean if you continue to assert comparable facts or assert actual industry terms in your responses. Remember, he works for the government- just ask him, he'll tell you so. Just admit you're part of the vast right wing crap and, therefore, nothing you state, no matter how valid it may be, is of any importance. Who the hell do you think you are trying to tell us about an industry in which you've made your career over the last 2 decades?!?!

JobyOne Kanobi: you're priceless!

What must REALLY pain him is that Ed Schultz one proclaimed on the air that *I* was his best friend in my market! (True story!!)

Let's don't get too harsh on this young guy... I am right of center and have had good banter with him.... Let him rave on his issues and he'll give you some room to vent yours... He's like Churchill said...."In your 20's you are apt to be passionate toward liberal thought....In you 40's you start to show your passions to the more conservative thought and action...." Sean even sent me a nice thank you for trying to think beyond my view.. I feel we live in a day where both sides of the meter tend to vent and vent and not debate... God, forgive me for my ultra-zeal in my youth.... Yes, the market has not been kind to the efforts of the left-talk....But, some of the companies giving them air time to see if it takes, have not invested anything beyond giving them the air time to prove themselves... 1230 is not a monster signal, but on the other hand, it hits the more liberal zip codes within Franklin County.... See, it's a two way street... :)

I don't think anyone hates Sean. I just think he's an easy target to make fun of. Anybody who purports to have been in radio and is so naive as to the basics of the business ..... it's just amusing to think he's serious that spending money on some obscure web stream is something he considers a good use of advertising dollars ..... I can't believe this guy was ever in radio!

DH... You might be right on his total experience, but we were all in that game at one time.. I was lucky to even do the high school on air drama show with sound effects (on our school system's FM that was not listen too much back in the 70's)... It was a start... We dream and I was a little too big for my pants in my teens and early 20's.... I know I am an easy target, often... Even after 30 years in this stuff (full and part time)... ;D

Churchill's thoughts were more widely applicable in an earlier era. A lot of thinking people understandably started to stray from that pattern around 2000 when the era of George W and his cohorts started bastardizing the traditional meaning of conservative. I used to vote for a lot more Republicans when I was younger, and I know I'm not the only one.
