am 1400 simulcast on 94.1 in Bangor

WWNZ is co-owned with WNZS/1340 and both air C list conservative talkers, so I wonder what made them chose 1400 over 1340, maybe a long term plan here?

I've tuned in when I've been in the Bangor area. 1340 USED to be CNN headline news, but has morphed into 2nd tier conservative talkers. 1400 carries most of the Fox News talk lineup. Chance for a bigger audience with the Fox names. Not even a hint of a signal in coastal Hancock county.

Great having a flashback to 1992 when Someone in Bangor got the idea to do a state wide news network.....WKIT AM & FM in Bangor and WASY AM in Gorham.....the results weren't pretty as I recall!! Just make sure this owner isn't a Felon / Dentist!!

Butters, a couple points. WKIT AM or FM was never involved in the Bangor-Portland network. It was the people who bought WZON from Dr Tozier who tried to team it with WASY AM. The "dentist" was not involved at all. As for the 94.1 translator, thats hardly a network.

D@mm!t, now I'm getting flashbacks. Danny Lennon passed on a while back. Last I heard Big Ange was selling ads in church booklets back in Rhode Island. 1590 WASY was mercifully allowed to stay dead this time. To this day, nobody knows if Nancy Boyd really exists.

chuck,
who was the dentist that owned WZON back then? My mistake I thought it was WKIT AM & FM ..... it was a AM &FM Combo though that was part of that voice of maine format that did involve WASY AM

Stephen King sold the WZON license to his dentist, Dr Tozier who has a nearby office on Broadway about 1/4 mile from WZON. Because of trees blocking the satellite path at ZON, they at one time put a 12' dish on the dentists roof, and telco lined the feed up the hill. I recall changing transponders was a real bitch.

99% of my Fox 104.7 stuff is on cassette and nothing digital at this point. Maybe this winter I will get to transfering my "archives". Boxes and boxes of cassettes plus shelves full of reels from Z62-12 Rock-WLOB etc. Its hard to know where to begin.
