AM 1470 WMMW Meriden September 1, 1988

The Southington Library uploaded old issues of The Southington Observer Newspaper. The link below goes to the September 1, 1988 edition. Scrolling down to Page 10 there is an ad for The All-New AM 1470 Motivational Radio in Meriden. Aside from the all traffic format of WCNX 1150 in Middletown (now WMRD) in the early 1990s, this seems to be the stupidest format idea I ever heard of for a radio station.

P.S. The Jay Clark Show on AM 990 in Southington from June-August 2004 was one of the stupidest radio shows ever. Big difference between stupid format ideas and stupid radio shows.

They called it "Mind Management 101," as if they were offering a college course. I never listened for more than a few minutes, but what I remember of it is the variable quality of the recordings of motivational speakers. It sounded as if some were being played off well-worn cassettes.
