AM 1650

Today at around 2:15 I heard this. I hit on it once before but thought " interesting, I'll check on this later" but the frequency was blank. Today it had a strong 4 bar signal on my Sony radio and identified itself as "Songs You Know" AM1650 . I heard "Anytime" by Eddie Fisher and Frank Sinatra " Fools rush in" and then no signal. I don't see 1650 listed in the Sacramento area. Pirate?

According to Wikipedia's page for "1650 AM" there are only six stations in the U.S. on that frequency. And two in Canada.

They include a Korean-language station in Torrance, CA, in the Los Angeles market. There's a Spanish Christian station in the Denver market. And a Spanish Sports station in El Paso. I didn't see anything else on 1650 kHz in the Pacific and Mountain Time Zones.

there are occasionally circumstance where there is extraordinary groundwave propagation too. In December of '21 I was driving down Greenback lane in Citrus Heights at around 3:30 in the afternoon (more than 2 hours before sunset) and was receiving KAJO in Grants Pass Oregon on 1270am, (a 10,000 watt station during daylight hours). It's the ONLY time I've ever heard them (they reduce power to only 48 watts and night so skywave propagation would be an miracle if it did happen). So, Those odd anomalies do happen sometimes. :)
