AM 620

Was/is AM 620 in Louisville running without audio? I was within 38 miles of it yesterday & heard a dead carrier.

Did you hear regular audio or dead air?

They are having issues with the link between the studio and transmitter site.

I know I ain't as smart as those owners and managers who think out of the box, but isn't a dead carrier for a long period of time a "no-no" in the eyes of the FCC? Or is that one of those things covered in deregulation as a time of silence to serve the community and help people.

It violates the legal ID rule...unless they air an ID once an hour. Tough to do with no STL.

But since the remote control is on dial up, they could have called it and turned off the transmitter, which they should have done.

Except then how would they know if the STL started working again on it's own? ::)

Usually helps when someone AT the station is actually listening TO the station. ::)
