There's an application for am 650 in Raymond.Unless it's a religious broadcaster, what could you do with a station in Raymond? It might possibly cover North Windham.Could it survive financially?

Isn't Raymond, ME the site of WGME-TV (CBS) channel 13 of Portland? Could the station side mount a transmitter on their tower?

AM stations don't put their antennas on TV/FM towers that are in high locations. AM stations get out much better in low locations like swamps, marshes, etc.

They could put a skirting antenna system on the tower. IIRC WGME's tower has a lot of water around it at the bottom of the mountain. I am unsure it that would help or not.

The applicant, a Steve Wendell of Rockland County (NY), is not a religious broadcaster (GOOD!), tried to put a 550 up in northern NJ, to which 540 in Islip NY tried to block; at which time later, Wendell made application (and got?) for a 540 in Jackson NH. - With a lot of power, maybe a Raymond Maine station could work. But if recent history says anything here, a Maine stand-alone AM doesn't have too much of a chance.

Don't hold your breath

Agreed, from top to bottom. Yes, he did get 540 in NH, but I believe it was licensed for Jaffrey (plus another CP in Fitzwilliam). And if recent history says anything else, it tells you that although the applicant has had good success in being granted CPs, he hasn't yet actually built any of his potential stations. (Does anyone file FCC paperwork as a hobby?)
