AM 740 Conspiracy Show

Re: AM 740 Conspiracy Show

Last summer I had a chat with one of AM 740's ad sponsors. (he runs a store that sells classic collectibles, etc)

He informed me that if the station keeps adding talk shows he'll pull out.
He then proceeded to inform me that he believes they'll just find a new source of revenue to (easily) replace him if he does.

Regardless, there's still more support for the music than there is for talk programming.
I hope Mr. Zniamer knows what he is doing!

Re: AM 740 Conspiracy Show

AM 740 is one of the few powerhouses I like to tune in at night. AM 650 is another. Either way, if 740 decides to go to an information-based talk format, unless it's REALLY interesting, I'll probably discontinue listening! I MIGHT suggest that the station keep its nighttime programming and add some lighter jazz to the mix along with some 'modern standards' by artists such as Diana Krall, Harry Connick, Jr. and the like.

Re: AM 740 Conspiracy Show

I can't listen to that station any more. It held such promise and had great music when it started out. Then...Znaimer bought it and is now in the process of wrecking it. Same thing with the commercial classical music station, which he bought. Ex-CBC R2 listeners are expected to suffer through the increased ads, if they're sick of the pop being played on "The New 2"? I don't think so.

I've just tried listening to the pod-cast of the initial 'Conspiracy Show'. I can hear why CFRB fired this guy. Znaimer must be nuttier than I thought...

Wrecking it? Hmmm...it's hard to comment on that right now.
Go down the dial to CFRB...notice anyone else missing?

Let's count our blessings that there is (hopefully) no plan for 740 to change direction and snatch up the 12-13 staff shown the door the other day over at 'RB.

The Motts still have some life in them, but I honestly don't know if their following is 50plus, or younger.

15 years at CFRB and they get tossed out like a bag of moldy tangerines?
Was CFRB really "Broke"? Did it really need "fixing"?

I'll bet if not 740, AM 640 would LOVE to have the ratings CFRB had before deciding to flush out so many fine radio people!
(excluding Michael Coren-He's better with CTS tv anyway, if I do say so myself. lol)

Toronto Star reporting CFRB "Layoffs": http://www.thestar.com/news/ontario/article/687342

Steve Kowch is also no longer with CFRB, but he may still be employeed with Astral to do other work...that's still a pending decision Steve has to make himself.
