AM 870 was on today

I don't know if they were testing or if it was the real thing. Audio was a bit distorted like it was being overdriven. The calls were kind of burried after a very automated sounding time announcement at 10:02 today. The signal was nice and strong but I was not very far away. The audio sounded like it was from a religious TV show.

Mike,

It could be that you were hearing a ghost station, or perhaps a rare bouncing of the air the air signal of the old WGTL off of a planet orbiting Alpha Centauri.

The distorted audio and mechanical-sounding time checks sound eerily like things WGTL used to do when they were on 870.

Hope they get that station on the air soon.

Later . . . .

100000watts.com is reporting that the calls have been changed from WGHC to WTCG.

Side note - WTCG were the former calls of the "former" WTBS, which is now WPCH-TV 17 in Atlanta. (W)TBS is now ONLY a cable channel, whereas it was also OTA prior late 2007.

Now we return you to the WTCG "radio" thread...already in progress.

Eric

Just did a query for WTCG and WOGR on the FCC website -- apparently WTCG is transmitting from the WOGR site. Because of this, both stations are conducting signal tests through July.
