AM 960 Kool Gold

Your three favorite songs from 960's playlist.
Mine are:

Memphis, Lonnie Mac
Bring It On Home, Sam Cooke and Lou Rawls
Rumble, Linc Wray and the (Wray Men?)

Oh, I have to give an honorable mention to the first bubblegum song, Killer Joe by the Rockyfellers

Ooohhh... good topic!

- Wonderful Dream, The Majors
- Mr. Lee, Bobbettes
- Itty Bitty Pretty One, by... Thur... something?

Good jocks on that station too! Lee Baby, John Gibson, CJ Brown, Bill Rogers, Randy Mack, Billy O (on the radio)

Any others?

We can't forget The House Of Blue Lights by Chuck Miller. The source
was a grungy, noisy, scratchy 45.

Del Hull (PD), Bob Williams, Don Crawford, George Thomas.

But if you lived in much of the east valley, forget it at night. Big null.

The (four) sticks would have been up on Chauncey's ranch at Bell and
Scottsdale roads at the time. What did the night pattern look like from
their original site at "Chicago Avenue" and Palm Lane? Assume it still
blasted into San Diego and Rocky Point, but was trash in Mesa.

Did KRIZ 12~Thirty even make it out to Chandler at night with their 250 watts of music pow-pow-power? Now Kay Oh Why sounds like a distant station at PV Mall at night running with four times the juice.

Nurse Jeff plays Happy Organ by Dave "Baby" Cortez all the time...but I tell him it'll only make him need glasses!

Would it be because of the Dreamy Draw? Go a little west to the I-17, and you can get it further north than only Thunderbird/Cactus.

Speaking of KOOL 960 though, wasn't Famous Amos on it at one time? Heard him filling in on WCBS-FM a few months ago.
