AM Band here in NW florida (my "loggings")

Here is what I'm hearing down here (small list)

530 - Spanish
550 - tropical music
900 - morning show in spanish with music and a caller
(I believe it's monterry (SP?) Mexico)
660 - sports radio (the fan?)
1200 - texas

I'm logging more and more just wish I took spanish!

As long as local AM's there aren't on or near the frequency, I would think you could receive some of the 50,000 watt stations out of the midwest, central states and the southwest. I can understand the Spanish stations being received in that area.

I tried that URL someone gave me but that costs money.

I'm trying to ID these stations.

530 is Radio Vision Cristiana in Turks & Caicos islands. 550 is Cuba. 900 could be the Spanish languge station in Nashville, but there is no 900 in Monterrey... although 900 is in Mexico City with 250 kw, but a very unlikely catch in daytime hours.

You did not say when you were listening, but said you heard a morning show. If mornings, it is very unlikely that you had WFAN on 660. The Salem talker in Orlando might barely make it.

1200 from Texas is WOAI in SA.

I asked "when" and not "where." "When" means "at what time of the day." That would help identify if you were on skywave, groundwave or sunrise skip propagation.

I was in FWB a few years ago & near the Gulf, I heard Marco Island on 1660 during the day. Seems like it was nearly 400 miles.

The 660 logging might have been out of Mobile, do not exactly recall what they have now. they were Headline News at one time, and have played blues music at some point as well. Depending on the set you are using, you ought to be able to hear New Orleans stations clear as a bell, at least to mid-band (600, 690, 800, 870. 940, 990, 1060, and 1280). I achieved this on the very first GE Superadio that I ever owned, :) in 1981. Still was able to log 690, 870, and 1060 from Destin in 2000. These were during the midday hours, however.
