Bandscan commenced at 1:10pm, Wednesday July 5, 2023 with a factory 2010 Texas edition Chevy Silverado AC Delco 6 disc head unit. I'll use a scale of 1-5 as judgment of signal strength. No mention of blank dial positions, unless I note that it isn't normally a blank. Added personal commentary is italicized.

1430 KEES Gladewater (Longview) "Guadalupe Radio Network" La Promesa Catholic programming, good 3
1440 KETX Livingston (Lufkin-Nacogdoches) "102.3 The Eagle" Ken Luck classic rock, weak 1-1.5 (not usually there this far north of it, was surprised to hear it weakly)

1600 KRVA McKinney (DFW) "Radio Saigon" (again? It's Vietnamese, but I'm not sure if it's tied in with 1160)
1620 WTAW College Station "News Talk 94.5 & 1620 WTAW" Bryan Broadcasting N/T, weak 1-1.5

1700 KKLF Richardson "Jalapeño 95.7 and 1700"
Tejano, weak 1-1.5

Wow, that took awhile to turn the dial and type this scan down. Good thing I had the day off, and all the errands done. Hope you all enjoy the glimpse of what the dial looks like 2.5 miles north of Tyler, Texas.

KRLD is Audacy (ex CBS)
WBAP is Cumulus (Citadel)
Yes to both, of course. Was somewhat rushed, watching the gas needle drop as I sat idle with the AC blasting. Thanks for the correction, Boise.

Very cool, thanks! I have stayed at a motel right in front of KIVY's towers in Crockett. You mentioned standards when not simulcasting with the AM. With the translators :"translating" the AM, shouldn't that be all the time?

I'm sorry for the confusion, as I didn't clarify that very well. The 102.9 & 105.5 translators are both simulcasting 1290 AM, which is normally a Standards/Soft Oldies format. At times, 1290 AM will just simulcast sister station 92.7 KIVY-FM. As a result, you get classic country on 92.7, 102.9, 105.5, & 1290. The same occurs at standards 1220 KMVL Madisonville, as it too will simulcast sister classic country 100.5 KMVL-FM from time to time. Often enough, you will hear the classic country on 98.9, 100.5, 102.7, & 1220.

You heard correctly, originating station for K254CH in Houston.
1560 KGOW Bellaire (Houston) "Viet Radio" Gow Vietnamese programming, fair 2.5
Surprised you can hear them in Tyler as they are still using their night site 24/7, which beams SE. The licensed day site puts a very strong lobe NNE of Houston, but it hasn't been on the air for a long time, at least whenever I check. Of course the night site might be out of whack; I've noticed the station is stronger in Montgomery County than it used to be while on the supposed night pattern.

KMIC runs Radio Aleluya, Spanish language religion. Hasn't been Radio Dabang for several years.

So, if I'm reading right, the translators are simulcasting whatever is on KIVY, but that changes. Thanks!

Yes sir. You can definitely hear them here. Not the blowtorch it was in the early part of the 2010s, but still very much a listenable signal up here.

I heard KGOW regularly in Wyoming at night and Ive heard it a few times here in Alaska at night

Hmmmmm

When it first came to life in 2007, it was a monster. Sounded like it was coming from atop the People's Petroleum Building here in Tyler, as opposed to a virtual swamp down by the coast. It's not what it once was, but it still remains the most constant of the Houston AM stations receivable here. KJOZ is a close second.

That stood out to me immediately as well, at least once I made it down to 1560. I'm not surprised 610, 790 and 950 don't show up around Tyler, nor am I surprised KTRH is that weak given the null toward Texarkana and Tulsa. (Was there any co-channel interference on 740, or do you ever encounter that in your area?)
1560 is a station I felt like I never heard really well around Houston when I lived there. I was never close enough to their towers to get what I considered a great signal, even in Bellaire. I've never caught them in Ohio.

Once in a great while I can catch 740 KCMC's sports programming from Texarkana. It's pretty rare, though. I thought, perhaps, that 790 KBME might make an appearance here with the demise of Gospel KOSY in Texarkana, but nada. I have had KPRC up here, KRCM from The Woodlands, as well as KXYZ since it moved to its new tower. Just didn't pop up during this scan. Never have I received KNTH or KILT, and only KIKK when it didn't power down on occasion under CBS ownership. I looked at my logs to make sure, and nope. 1070 is KFTI Wichita once the sun drops. I hear the classic country most evenings, in varying strengths. 610 yields sports, but is KC's "Sports Radio" at night, if ever anything pops up next door to local KTBB.

Reception change quite dramatically here at night, being out in the countryside, such as 980 KQUE Rosenberg taking over KOKA on a nighly basis. 1000 KTOK comes in nicely most nights, and so on. Maybe I'll do another scan at night somewhere down the road, to show the huge differences.
