AM Daytimers

Most "daytimers" are allowed some small amount of nighttime power, less than 250 watts and sometimes as little as one watt.

However, there are a few exceptions where the daytimer is not allowed to operate at night at all. 1190 Vallejo is one of them.

WLIB (another 1190) in NYC was once a Limited time" station, which meant that they could stay on until sunset at Ft Wayne IN where WOWO was running 50k fulltime.....so, to get around that, WLIB's owners bought WOWO, added night power AND reduced WOWO's night power.

Also in NYC, WINS 1010 bought KLRA in Little Rock, which ran 5 k nights, and shut them off, so WINS would have better reach.

Why can KGBN in Anaheim stay on at night, Does KEX get to the L.A area?

KGBN, with its batch of towers on top of a hill at the 57 fwy and Pathfinder, shoots over Anaheim and out to sea.

KEX is rather directional to the west, and somewhat limited to the SE towards SoCal. It can be heard, but not too listenable due to all the other stuff on 1190 such as Tolleson, the 50 kw XEWK in GDL, and others still remaining on 1190 in Mexico.
