AM DX from Roatan Is. (Honduras) and Belize

^ Yes, RB was truly the last of the true full-service radio stations. Every kind of music, news, features, interviews, comedy, sports, drama.....and as Belize is bilingual, there was a Spanish block as well.

Keep in mind that TV (legally) didn't come to Belize until about 1979-81; RB performed much like a TV station. I wish I had kept the program guide they mailed me once. :( Anybody have one around, from the 70s?

Sorry to steer this off topic....back to AM DX from Roatan!

Great thread.

Thanks for taking time out to post your DX'ing finds. I know how busy cruising can be, what with drinking, eating, shore excursions, gambling, and sitting on your balcony waiting till it's time to drink and eat again.
;D

Boy...You got that right! My wife and I are mostly retired And love cruising. It's a very economical way to just "be lazy" and see the world! I always take a radio when cruising to catch some AM DXing but often don't have much time for it with all the activities, shows, tours, etc. And, I can't do too much DXing or Mrs. KR4BD would not be happy.....

How do you manage to do your AM DXing on cruises? I've been on a couple & find the noise level to be pretty rough.
I even tried stringing a wire outside on our balcony & that didn't help. Any advice?

I go to the upper decks with no cover on top and get away from any radar units and antennas, etc. On the Crown Princess, the 15th and 16th decks offer some good spots out in the open. Sometimes, I stand along the railing for good results. Also, I use a good set of headphones to block out noise from the ship.

Thanks--next time I get the chance I'll try your suggestions.
