AM DX

I'm hearing some US signals on am DX

Radio Disney on 1650 (can't get IDs)
Talk on 1640

and a bunch more which I need to get to my logs.

RR 570 is booming, too. (cuba) but once the front passed, back to normal.

Probably WHKT Norfolk VA. That's the only RD affiliate I can find on 1650.

I've gotten AM 1650 Norfolk from Englewood Beach FL (80 mi S of St. Pete) numerous times in the hour before local sunset in the late fall/early winter as well as other X banders from further away in the Dallas metro area and Ft. Smith AK if I recollect. The silly season is now upon us.

This was heard right before coast to coast on my piece of junk CC radio.

Radio Disney on 1650 comes in well on the south shore of Long Island all day. I even got it in Florida in the middle of the day. Being near the water helps.

I can't prove it but being near the beach seems to give signals that are coming over all land a slight boost.

True. The guys sitting right on the Atlantic Ocean hear TAs often, while those of us inland (midwest), don't hear as much. However, it is possible. There have been nights when you hear a 1 kHz het on WLS-Chicago, and that's usually Algeria on 891.

You should check out the National Radio Club, (www.nrcdxas.org)
