SW Ohio
Day
WGNZ Fairborn Ohio - Weak

Sunrise/Sunset
WTOF Bay Minette AL - Sunset (infrequent)
WBT Charlotte - Sunrise/Sunset
KFAB Omaha - Sunrise
WSLV Ardmore TN - Sunset (only once)

Night
WBT - Only if conditions are right

I did not realize WGNZ was directional until this post ... you saying it's weak in southwest Ohio, (presumably) far closer to the transmitter than I am in Columbus, prompted me to check.
Anyway, around here it's WGNZ with a pretty decent signal and IBOC hash from WTAM clearly underneath about 120 miles from its tower. Night, it's a fairly weak WBT but nothing else really encroaches on it, other than WTAM hash that is.
I drive to Fort Wayne from Cincinnati via I-74 West, using a shortcut to get to I-69. As one would expect, WGNZ has a decent day signal soon after passing Batesville, right on up to Muncie. I have never tuned them further north than Muncie.

Totally off the subject, but the former WIBC on 1070 seems to have a much stronger day signal northeast of Indy than they had a few years ago. Same with due south.

That makes sense, because WIBC had some extensive ground system repair done back in 2007: www.kkbc.com/wibc.htm

Back to 1110, basically it's the same here in East Texas as LibertyNT reported from his location in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, that being KVTT Mineral Wells during the day and KFAB at night. Just a hint of WBT here very seldom before dawn but it's by no means an easy catch.

Day: nothing
Night: mess

Typically. Recently I have been hearing a somewhat faint broadcast of Señor AC Tones' "The Wave" smooth jazz programme going out on 1110 during the day. I don't know if it's a pirate or if somebody's just playing around with a transmitter they built......

Do you ever hear the 1110 from Houston up that way during critical hours? When I lived in Houston you could hear the 1110 from North Texas outside the main lobe of "our" 1110 under the local signal in the evening before the local signed off.

Yes, I was able to catch both KTEK and KJSA (prior to it becoming KVTT) although it doesn't seem to be happening that much now. Oddly enough it seemed to be mainly in the morning here, not so much in the afternoon. That was back when they were both airing the BizRadio format (fairly well synched, btw) and before the Mineral Wells station increased power from 20kW. Funny thing about that power boost, though; I noticed a while back KVTT is still getting ripped by KFAB just east of Dallas during critical hours despite their 39kW CH signal. It's a long way from Big D to Greater Nowhere out there in Wise County.

NE North Carolina this week.
Days WYRM Norfolk, VA 50 kW daytimer.
Late afternoon is WYRM with WBT under at times.
When WYRM is off, WBT dominant. With WBT nulled, heard unid oldies music and probably WMBI Chicago but no positive ID.

WMBI is totally commercial free and tends to have far less begging for donations than most religion stations. That might be one way to tell them apart. There's also little, if any, "fire and brimstone" type stuff. Also some of their programming is in Spanish.

(I say commerical free....I mean in the "classic sense". No commercial spots. My guess is that money may well be changing hands for some of the syndicated preachers they run. But still in all, it's a high-class operation and they produce most of their own programming....including original Christian-themed dramas, concerts, & kids shows.)

KTEK is semi-local "Business 1110" from south of Houston, licensed to Alvin, Tx. Used to be that KJSA's 50kW would fight with KTEK even in the northern parts of Houston, just after sunrise. This was when both 1110's were running the "Biz Radio" programming and made for a mess full of echoed programming. I haven't heard a peep from KJSA, now KVTT, in quite some time, now that it is running a classic country format. At night, 1110 is a weak KFAB this far south.

Up here in NW Washington State, 1110 is a 500 watt daytimer called KWDB, Oak Harbor (on WhiDBey Island in Puget Sound.)

Nights on 1110 are KBND, Bend, OR and occasionally KFAB.

In Fresno. I have heard KLIB Roseville CA during the day and KDIS in Los Angeles at night, have heard both "fighting it out" around sunset.
