AM Frequency of the Week 1130

Not much around Columbus, Ohio either. Sometimes slop from KMOX and WRVA, and I think I have heard WBBR here.
I've never heard Detroit, Milwaukee or Minneapolis here.
Even when I attended college in Toledo, WDFN was noticeably weaker daytime than WWJ, though still very listenable, and much weaker than both WJR and CKLW. It was completely gone at night. I do remember hearing WBBR once or twice in Toledo.
because of higher dial position

That and the directional signal sending very little toward Toledo. 1130 probably would be clear daytime in Toledo if not for the pattern, given that the tower isn't all that far from the state line.

CKWX 1130 Vancouver, about 1500 miuels away every night, usualyl fairly decent

East-central Iowa: Daytime KILJ Mt. Pleasant, IA.
Mount Pleasant is where I went to colege. KILJ (as KKSI) signed on a few nonths after graduation in 1970. For a time during my sophomore year, I lived on the top floor of a 3-story building. So I was able to attatch a longwire to a steel beam on the ceiling and connect it to my Halicrafters S-120. The result was some great DX...including WISN as a very weak daily regular,

KTMR from Converse (San Antonio area) by day. I would call it a moderate signal as they have a null in this direction. 1120 KTXW from Manor is about equal strength and they do not step on each other.

At night it is KWKH from Shreveport with one of the best nighttime signals here in Canyon Lake. I believe JimSatx may have snagged CKWX from Vancouver; I have tried, but no luck so far.

From NW San Antonio:

Day: Semi-local Spanish-language Christian KTMR. City of license is Converse, to my NE, but the transmitter is actually about 40 miles SE near Stockdale.

Sunset: KWKH in Shreveport starts to appear. If I aim NE, KTMR is partially nulled and KWKH has a fairly good signal.

Night: KTMR doesn't usually sign off until 8 p.m. CT, and KWKH is heard not only in the partial null but underneath KTMR when I aim NW. Once KTMR is gone, KWKH is fairly strong. Sometimes there's a strange het that sounds like a train whistle that must have something to do with KWKH. I've heard it from various locations around town and only when KWKH is there. When aiming NW, I get a partial (and sometimes full) null of KWKH and occasionally hear brief weak signals from XECHAP in Chapingo and, more rarely, CKWX in Vancouver or KSDO in San Diego.

Sunrise: KTMR signs on a good ways before local sunrise. KWKH can still be heard weakly in its partial null but strengthens again and mixes in for a while when it goes to day pattern.

DX: One-time loggings include daytimers WLBA in Gainesville, GA, and WQFX in Gulfport, MS, both one night about a year ago when they were still on the air. Also, I logged KLEY in Wellington, KS, for the first time ever this past Sunday night. It had a decent signal at times in the NW partial null of KWKH, so it must've been on day power. I heard it again briefly last night, but it was very weak and surely back to night power.

Retro: Before they were retired, I heard XEYZ "La Poderosa" in Aguascalientes and XETOL "La Comadre" in Ixtlahuaca a few times each at night.

Tyler, TX:

A little different than TXPH97, as I'm halfway down I-20 to Shreveport from him.

KWKH is a good signal here in the daytime. On par with KEEL. At night, it's gone. Completely. All I hear at 1130 after dark is a steady, faint whistle. It doesn't go away or strengthen regardless of where the antenna is pointed. That whistle typically stops anything from being heard at 1130 at night, although I have heard what sounds to be Regional Mexican programming beneath it. Can't be the daytimer in San Antonio, so I assume it's coming from the other side of the border.

Driving around the south suburbs of Chicago, I did some listening to 1130 during critical hours yesterday afternoon. WISN was being pummeled by at least three other stations at times, though floated above the stew often enough to be identified and sometimes was there alone. Then it faded down again. (Meanwhile, adjacents KMOX and WRVA were easy listens.)

At the same time, CBW 990 was audible and relatively listenable (to us DXers) right alongside WMVP 1000. It was less easy to pick out in the evening after WMVP's pattern change. By then, 1130 was a free-for-all.

@rosecitymedia WLBA Gainesville, GA is often heard here, on late with regional Mexican music.

That weird nighttime whistle might be the het I’m hearing when aiming the radio toward KWKH. It’s not constant, but it can be strong at times.

all traffic all the time, 1130 CKGO Vancouver.. quite good 1500 miles away

I usually hear multiple signals under WISN around sunrise when WISN powers up

South Mississippi:

Day: weak signal from WQFX Gulfport, MS - Power Gospel 1130 AM and & 98.7FM
Night: KWKH Shreveport - 1130 The Tiger
or WLBA Gainesville, GA - La Mejor

In the Wilkes-Barre(Northeast PA) area, days and nights, it's always WBBR "Bloomberg Radio" from NYC. WBBR is the strongest during the day.

Tonight (Thu 2/29) WALQ Carrville, Ala. is on after hours with Mexican music; over everything else on the way home. Still on at 1 a.m. Matched to online stream, ID in Spanish. New AM No. 582.

Thanks to Justin Wolffing on TwitterX for the tip.

Hearing WALQ now (11:20pm 3/1) in Houston w/Mexican banda music and long ad blocks in Spanish w/lots of Alabama and Montgomery mentions //WALQ stream. Almost equal to KWKH at times.
