AM Frequency of the Week - 1150 kHz

What do you all get on 1150 AM?
Here in Vermilion, OH, it is a fairly weak WCUE/Cuyahoga Falls, OH sometimes with another weak signal underneath - not sure what it is. At night I get a jumble of stations with WCUE sometimes poking through with other UNid stations.

Here in Bellevue it's a gigantic KKNW Bellevue [2mi S]. Intermod on 610, 1460 and above 1700 kHz in areas. EXTREMELY rarely I can find a spot to null it barely and hear CKFR Kelowna, BC at night fluttering in and out, but that is very rare.

In Bothell I also received KXET before stuff was stolen, and KQQQ Pullman, WA at sunset.

Northern VA,

Nothing on days. At sunset, it's sometimes weak WLLI "Willie" from Huntingdon, PA with a classic country and at nights it's CKOC Hamilton, ON though it's usually not strong here.

Sorry, I meant 1420 for KKNW's intermod. 1460 KARR doesn't get effected by intermod here.

Any chance that's WIMA from Lima? It definitely would be weak by the time it got to your location.
Speaking of WIMA, that's all I would get here in Thornville, Ohio, but that signal is pretty much gone here. It gets out decently well. I used to hear it sometimes at night when I was growing up in Columbus, but I think they've readjusted their pattern in the ensuing 20'ish years (or my patience is less, probably some of both).
I've also heard a faint CKOC here at night, as well as in St. Marys, Ohio under WIMA, which is less than 15 miles from there but out of the main lobe.

Far northwest suburban Chicago....

Day: Splatter from WYLL (1160)

Night: Usually CKOC on top....sometimes WHBY (Appleton, WI)

"Back in the day" before moving to 1130, WISN (Milwaukee) used to be audible under the then-WJJD splatter during the daytime, and later have a fairly reliable signal at night. Nulling WJJD during the daytime would also bring in a very weak 500-watt directional WJRL from Rockford, IL....which is long, long gone.

WAVO (standards, leaning heavily toward the big bands but also including some very soft oldies and AC) has its studios in Charlotte, NC but is licensed to Rock Hill, SC, where its transmitter is. It got a major daytime upgrade, though there are parts of Charlotte where the even the daytime signal has problems with power lines in my car.

In Concord there is a lot of interference from WRNA 1140. It's a shame they took away the Concord station that was its simulcast partner.

I've heard it reaches parts of the Columbia, SC area.

I think it is WIMA underneath WCUE during the day but I'll try it more when I can get to a electrical interference-free area, the local park. Too much buzzing here.

From NE NC car radio. 1150 WGBR Goldsboro, NC also WDEL Wilmington, DE and WBAG Burlington, NC. WRVA 1140 has IBOC turned off so 1150 is now much better.

If it was a True Oldies Channel affiliate, then it was WJRD.

Here on the AL Gulf Coast, 1150 is a pretty dead frequency. I've never really remembered what pops up at night but days are dead. I may have received WGEA from Geneva, Alabama once in the evening. It's 1kW days and about 120 miles out.

In my years of visiting your neighborhood, I've heard WJBO (Baton Rouge) a few times at night. Nothing comes to mind for daytime. My experience is also that 1150 is indeed pretty quiet there.

I have 1150 from Daytona Beach every day, WNDB. They are a decent signal usually within 5-10 miles of the coast. They have a lot of NASCAR programming. During Daytona and the July 4 race every year, for several days around them they basically turn into an all-racing station. They carry all the series, the support races around them, and have talk shows surrounding all the races and qualifying sessions.

Daytime: Radio Luz, WWDJ Boston, a 5 KW full time station, SS christian. I'll check tonight. I'm also getting a very fluttery signal also SS in the background at about 1PM local time here in central Ma.
