AM Frequency of the week: 1160

West Central Georgia:

Daytime: weak WCFO Catholic Radio from East Point/Atlanta Ga

Nighttime: sounds like a graveyard channel with many different stations occasionally heard including:
KCRT Donelson/Nashville TN with religious programming in English (1000 watts),
WWQT Tryon, NC with southern gospel music (500 watts),
WYDU Red Springs/Fayetteville NC with African American gospel music (probably on daytime 5000 watts instead of 250 watts night),
WRLZ St. Cloud/Orlando FL with Spanish language Christian music (probably on daytime 2500 watts instead of 500 watts night).
No sign of WYLL or KSL unfortunately.

From NW San Antonio:

Day: Local 10 kW KRDY

Night/Sunrise: KRDY drops to 1 kW directional. Aiming NW/SE I can get a tiny but fairly good null in which I often hear KSL. However, it's sometimes covered up at night by IBOC hash from 1170 KFAQ.

DX/Retro: I've heard KBDT in Highland Park just once underneath KRDY.

This past Monday around sunrise, KRDY was off air intermittently due to transmitter issues. I heard a weak signal with Spanish-language Christian music that turned out to be KCTO in Cleveland, MO. I also briefly heard a station with preaching, but it was too weak for me to tell whether it was WCRT or WYLL.

A few nights ago, I had something colliding with WYLL in the middle of the night. Could it have been WCXI with 15 kW earlier than scheduled? Didn't sound great, and K8PLW's description seems to explain why.
WCXI doesn’t go well to the West, Day or Night. And if they had done POPs instead of newfangled MOMs (never noticed how those acronyms are ambiguous), they probably could have considerably improved the pattern and coverage, filling nulls, going to two towers Day, etc.
