AM Frequency of the Week - 1210 kHz

What can you get on 1210 kHz?

Here in Vermilion, OH it is blank during the day and at night, WPHT whose I-BLOCK pretty much wipes out my semi-local WHKW 1220. My HD car radio has gotten a lock on WPHT's HD signal at night before for about 30 seconds at a time.

From Tampa -

Daytime - Nothing other than the sound of WHNZ which is only a couple miles away.

Nighttime - Either the Cuban station or WPHT.

Where I grew up in New Jersey, I could hear WPHT (WCAU back then) on my record player.

And it was only a record player with no radio receiver.

Daytime - KMIA Auburn, WA - Latin/Mexican music.

Nights I get mainly KMIA. Also get CFYM Kindersley, SK (somewhat), KHAT Laramie, WY (rare), and have also gotten one-time logs of KEBR Sacramento, CA; KQEQ Fowler, CA (370w), and KRSV Afton, WY.

Located in W. Wash.

Night time I get a weak KMIA, and sometimes CFYM in Saskatchewan (as Crainbebo mentioned).

In the past I logged KGYN, Guymon OK and KREW Sunnyside WA (no longer exists), and a long time ago, WCAU Philadelphia.

Boombox, I've wanted to get KGYN for YEARS now. But most times I get country, it's "Buckin 92" fading in - which is KHAT. Used to be ESPN, and one time they came in like a local during dead winter.

Columbus, Ohio
Day: Weak WDAO from Dayton. Back when 1230 (ex-WCOL) was running IBOC, you couldn't get Dayton here.
Night: All WPHT.

I've logged KGYN, but I had to go to Phoenix to do so. ;)

One of my only empty frequencies in Charleston daytime. Closest 1210s are in Miami and Dahlonega, GA. Never picked up Miami daytime, unlike some of their other signals.

WPHT is in every night.

WJNL makes it there? It's a struggle in Manistee, about 40 miles from their stick.

Sunrise skip is a wonderful thing.

Last time I logged them was on the way to work at 8:22 AM on Friday March 27, 2009.

It's not a frequency I often check.

Near north Chicago suburbs it's nothing during the day, but WPHT at night--usually a good signal, but not as strong as years ago.

Same here, 30 miles to the west of you. Minor splatter from WRTO on 1200...even less from WKRS on 1220, but neither is an issue. Agree that the WPHT signal is weaker than as WCAU. I've heard the South Dakota 1210 underneath a couple of times.

Here at this location on 1210 we usually receive more local VOAR in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland, and at times WPHT in Philadelphia, PA can be heard underneath it.

For some reason, I didn't notice this post earlier.

Anyway, I've gotten KGYN on the West Coast a few times....including once in Portland with KEX nulled. Another time was one night in So-Cal when they were on day pattern broadcasting info during a local snowstorm. Other than that occasion, it's mostly been around sunrise
