AM Frequency of the week: 1410:

At our beach getaway location near Pensacola-Orange Beach. The Mobile 1410 is weak, and seems to be getting weaker every year. That said. It's still alone on the channel.
Over here in Houston, WNGL overperforms at night, almost always in the mix and often on top at night. Particularly impressive considering all the stations on this frequency in this part of the world.

Your comment gpt me to thinking about what I posted earlier. Is the WNGL day signal deteriorating or is it my memory that's doing the deteriorating? LOL

So I decided to go a little deeper and check out the coverage maps on R-L. Ground conductivity around Mobile is pretty awful. The daytime map for WNGL confirms this with the outer band falling just short of our location. So indeed, the signal there is pretty well spent. But is it also degraded from what it used to be? I guess it's hard to say, actually. Probably too many variables to determine just by listening. The signal's definitely there and alone. I used to also sometimes hear the Fort Myers 1410 underneath, but I'm pretty sure that, they're now dark.

As for the night pattern (4.6kw). Yep, looks like it's aimed west. So I can see where it could be a monster around Houston..
