AM Frequency of the week - 1450

Nice catch.

I bet there's groundwave involved too because of the ocean.

Are you able to hear the oldies station 1340 WMID from AC too?

Reply to gar fla. Today at 1200 noon EST. Lunch break car radio. Yes. From the doo wop capital of the world. WMID on top of others. I have audio of ID. Any idea how I can post it?

I only know how to post videos, so I can't tell you but I know that cd637299 has posted many audio clips.

An .870 kw station at that distance is a great catch!

I have no doubt at all you could hear it daytime and I'd really like to hear the audio.

Saltwater and AM make for an amazing combination.

I knew it had to be a ground wave that you were hearing from WMID!

I really wish I could take a trip to the NC outer banks and DX one day.

And I think of all the times I used to drive up and down I-95 from Florida to New Jersey and I wasn't aware of the great daytime AM reception to be heard not far from where I was.

From Cape Hatteras, NC., I had a pretty good copy on Bermuda's "AM Gold" on 1450. This was August of last year and just after local sunset.

From Michigan, WHTC's local signal dominants during daylight. At night, WPSE (Erie, PA.) is the furthest station I've logged, otherwise it's a mix of Fort Wayne, IN. and Alpena, MI. and a whole bunch of UNIDs in the graveyard mess.

Decided to bump thread up as I haven't posted in it...

1450 in Bothell used to have a VERY weak KONP Port Angeles, WA (News/Talk) in the day and sometimes KSUH Puyallup, WA (Korean). Haven't checked here in Bellevue however.

NIGHT GRAVEYARD CATCHES
CHOR Summerland, BC (AC, RIP moved to 98.5 in 2010)
KBFI Bonners Ferry, ID (News/Talk)
KBKW Aberdeen, WA (News/Talk)
KCLX Colfax, WA (Country)
KFLS Klamath Falls, OR (News/Talk, farthest log at close to 400 mi.)
KLBM La Grande, OR (Talk, SuperTalk simulcasts with KBKR 1490)

Checked in Bellevue. KSUH Puyallup, WA weak with Korean // KWYZ 1230, no other stations noted during the daytime.

Once when WLEC was briefly knocked off the air from a thunderstorm last summer around 4pm, I was hearing a very weak station in its place here in Vermilion, OH and I'm guessing it was WHLS/Port Huron, MI. Couldn't catch an ID before WLEC came back on. When travelling south-east, WLEC can be heard almost to Akron where WJER starts showing up.

Late to this thread, location: W. Wash. state.

Last time I monitored the frequency it was mostly KBKW, Aberdeen, WA with talk on one bearing and KBPS Portland with oldies on the other.
