AM frequency of the week - 1450

A pretty weak KIKR from Beaumont, which (contrary to what you might think with that set of calls) is CBS Sports Radio 1450. It simulcasts with 1510 KBED Nederland (also in the Triangle) and was Regional Mexican "La Gran D" prior to picking up the sports. At night, nothing decipherable.

The KIKR calls on 1450 are left over from when Charlie Pride owned the AM and had country on it...didnt last long...it orignally was KRIC in the 40s....the FM 97.5 (then) is the oldest FM in the BPT area and I think one of the first ten in the state...the stations were later bought by Houston broadcast Dave Morris (KNUZ, KQUE) and became KAYC and KAYD on the FM...(the FM was noted on Billboard's front page when we flipped from AOR to Top40 in 77..that was unheard of)

1450 here in Vermilion, OH is semi-local WLEC/Sandusky, OH with an adult standards/gold soft AC format. At night it becomes unlistenable with the graveyard jumble except in the summer it's still listenable but you can hear the mess underneath. The couple of times I have caught them off the air during the day I was able to hear a weak WHLS/Port Huron, MI. In the Akron area WLEC starts mixing with WJER/Dover New Philadelphia, OH (both weak there)
