AM Frequency of The Week: 1570

Here in NE PA, it's a daytime mix of WPGM Danville and a fainter but steady WIST Doylestown with them. The former WBUX, WIST sends a nice chunk of their back lobe northwest.
Recently at a sunup session in nearby St. Clair PA, W*N*ST MD came in. (They were also a logging several years back when it was Radio Oz (sp?) but even then also was a twilight catch).

Nighttimes now on 1570 sound like nighttimes on 1400. I've spent hardly no time on the frequency, although it stands to be a ripe spot to listen for a few catches when the operator develops amnesia around power-cut time.

CD : You got four Canadian stations on the same frequency in FLORIDA?!? Holy Smoke -- there are probably DXers in Canada who've never heard four stations total from Florida, let alone on the same frequency!

Yeah but 3 of the 4 stations no longer exist, at least on 1570---and the other one is on lower power after being off the air for years! (Montreal)

This was over 11 years of tryin'! The CKLQ was only through a QSL letter I got....the sound on the tape was horrid.

As to Canadians hearing FL, the best bet for any Canadian DXer is to concentrate on the X-band for Florida. No FL station I know sends its signal that way! Although I did hear WINZ 940 from Massachusetts in the 1970s, and a test of WGTO 540 from the same state in 1980.

cd

Here, 1570 is the station from Fernandina Beach, FL, that comes in pretty well daytime, one of the strongest Jacksonville area stations. It comes in right over the water. The frequency is a mess at night.
