AM Frequency of The Week: 1670 (X-BAND)

Here in Poughkeepsie, this morning in the car around 8:30am (about 1 hr 15 min after local sunrise), I had WTDY from Wisconsin fairly weak, but dominating 1670, with some CJEU in the background. WTDY mentioned their call letters frequently.

Also Tuesday evening around 5:45, I had Georgia (I guess it's WLAT now) much better than the night before, running about even with or slightly better than CJEU.

This past September I did some listening on Cape Cod Massachusetts, and heard a 1670 playing music all day throughout much of the Cape, but quite weak. I think it might be a pirate from the Boston area across Cape Cod Bay. Interestingly, this was not heard in Chatham at the "elbow" of the Cape, where I did a partial bandscan.

Also, a stronger possible pirate was also heard on 1690, and Logan Airport has a transmitter on 1650 I always hear at the Cape.

SW Ohio

1670 KHZ
WTDY Madison WI - The usual sunrise sunset & evening suspect.
WPLA Dry Branch GA Warner Robbins GA - Also heard as WAXP, WVVM, WFSM
