AM Frequency of The Week: 600

What have you guys picked up on 600?

For me, it's been:
CKBD Vancouver (before going silent 1/1/09)
CJWW Saskatoon, SK (Country)
KOGO San Diego, CA (News/Talk)

Well, considering I'm less than 8 miles from KOGO's transmitter.... I have yet to hear anything else. They in fact actually peg my PL-380's siignal strength meter, and their IBOC **** wipes out 590 and 610, as well, and gives 580 & 620 fits on radios with poor selectivity.

WMT Cedar Rapids; day or night in the Chicago Area. Used to get CKAT from North Bay on a fairly regular basis, but have not heard them too often lately...

KOGO's so weak here at night that the IBOC isn't heard at all. We have strong 590 and 610 distants from Eastern WA and OR, so it's not quiet after all!

Here it's nothing much but Cuba. Every blue moon, Radio Ya in Nicaragua makes it.

Hearing US stations on 600 here in south FL is a rarity....but then, I am not much of an AM DXr anymore.

Does anyone recall Cuba using Radio Moscow English broadcasts on 600 in 1980 (and maybe 1981)? I was stationed in Massachusetts at that time, and I could even hear it there. (Was stationed in Alaska the early part of '80 & my folks mailed me a news article about "Red Radio", the RM relay on AM.....No I didn't hear it from AK!)............I always wondered how Jacksonville FL's 600 fared at that time, and how the local reception was!

cd

Oh, yes, forgot about WSJS...which was still paired with 1200/WSML Graham NC when I heard it. ("News/Talk for the Triad, 600/1200 WSJS")

WSML is now off with two other Triad stations in a sports talk simulcast.

WCAO AM 600 Baltimore, 60 miles away, weak signal day, at night signal varies from weak to adequate, mixed in some 600 playing Spaniah/tropical music probably from the Caribbeans, Radio Rebelde (??)

Used to hear Radio Moscow on 600 from Cuba very well in Chicago in 1980.

So far in LA (and even Las Vegas) I've only heard KOGO on AM 600. It comes in pretty down here, even during the day.

I'm a bit surprised you were able to get KOGO in Seattle with only 5kw...

I used to hear the Memphis station on 600 quite a bit at night when I lived in Houston, even in local KILT/610's main lobe. Not bad ... that's about a 500-mile journey. Never have tried for it here in Ohio.

In Knoxville it's WCYP in Murphy NC if you're not too close to WRJZ on 620. In Dayton sometimes I'd hear WKLW (now WKYH) Paintsville KY pre-IBOC. Of course I've heard WMT from there.

The only thing I've ever heard on 600 is KSJB Jamestown, ND.

Here, 600 is WBWL from Jacksonville, with a pretty decent signal. Some days they are weaker than others, but they are the only Radio Disney station around.

At night, Cuba comes in usually.

Daytime here northwest of Chicago, it's a weak but still very usable WMT. Those of us who are Iowa Hawkeye sports fans would be lost without it!

At night, WMT is usually on top of the mess. Sometimes WREC and Cuba are also notable in the mix.
