I've never cared for music that was from before I was able to remember, so anything before 1965 when I was 3 years old (as far back as I can remember hearing songs on the radio or from records) just doesn't interest me such as doo-wop, 50's rock and roll, big band, swing.

It always amazes me in a good way how many young people who were born decades after the 60's and 70's like the music from that era.

But I agree completely about what's become of classic rock and oldies stations.

The same handful of songs over and over again to the point where I even turn off good songs I used to like because I've heard them way too much, such as Hotel California, Hey Jude, Sweet Home Alabama, Heart Of Glass, Every Breath You Take, and the most over played song of all - Brown Eyed Girl.

With all the songs that were made in the 60's, 70's, and 80's, it just escapes me why they ignore most of them and only play a very limited list of songs all the time.

And it's the same songs too in all the different markets.

There are some stations that are exceptions, of course, but they are few and far between.
We've probably had the "why doesn't radio play everything that was ever recorded since the beginning of time?" discussion thousands of times. I'd tell you to look up threads involving KRTH from a few years ago

OTOH, I'm kind of worn out after listening to the same groups and same songs several times a day on Sirius XM 70s and 80s Channels of various combinations and descriptions. Toto, Ambrosia, Steely Dan, The Eagles, Carly Simon, Crosby, Stills and Nash, etc. 24/7. Don't get me wrong, I like some of their songs. But not deep tracks that almost no one is familiar with. And can you tell me why Yacht Rock doesn't play "Come On Down To My Boat"? Too old? Some people in their 70s are selling and sailing Yachts.

Is there a version recorded in Russian? :)

Wondering if I heard Cuba on 610 last night. WTVN was off around 9 p.m., but I don't know for how long. When I was out running errands, it was getting mauled by a co-channel signal I couldn't identify. I live between a few of its eastbound nulls, but I heard the interference in a northeasterly null that falls over the intersection of Interstates 70 and 270 on the east side of Columbus. Even in that area that usually gets a weak signal after dark, WTVN is usually stronger than that.
Maybe 45 minutes later when I got back in the car, no WTVN at all, just very weak Spanish-language talk and music. First time I've ever heard that in this region or anywhere, actually. By 11, WTVN was back on at normal strength.

I've been hearing weak Spanish from time to time on 610. It doesn't sound like Cuba, so WPLO is my best guess. Just a guess. I haven't been able to ID anything.

Last night was huge for spanish on AM, wiping out most of the usual "clears" in my area. Tonight is more back to normal, but the southerly stations of the US are sounding good tonight (KFI, KTNN, KKOB, KEXB Dallas)

Glad you mentioned this. I've had much more trouble than usual picking up Chicago and New York the past few nights. It was almost impossible to hear WFAN Sunday night during the Astros-Yankees game. WGN and WMVP were struggling mightily as well, yet WSM and WSB were particularly loud. All are stations that dominate here at night under normal conditions.

WPLO on 610 is almost becoming a pest here in Chicago. Hear it almost every time I tune to 610. They use "La Bonita" slogans quite frequently, which makes it easy to ID.

I'll have to try for this one. Shouldn't be too hard for me to at least partly null WTVN. I get a solid signal at night considering that I'm east of their tower but just north of a very deep null toward Philadelphia.
