AM Frequency of the Week: 650

From west Houston, it's local KIKK in the daytime, WSM at night. At times, I've heard one of the Cubans, and possibly Mexico, underneath but WSM is always on top.

In Tulsa in the early 70's, when WSM would go off for maintenance, I never heard Hawaii but I did hear the Colombian a few times.

I wonder if anyone's heard the station in Greenland that's listed on 650.

From NW San Antonio:

Day: A steady but weak KIKK.

Sunset: WSM starts coming up and eventually dominates.

Night: WSM has a fairly strong signal with occasional fades. XETNT "Radio 65" in Los Mochis can often be heard if I aim NW/SE to get a partial null of WSM.

Sunrise: XETNT is stronger in WSM's partial null, and XEPX "La Voz del Ángel" in Puerto Angel, Oaxaca, can be heard briefly when it goes to day power. XETNT eventually takes over until it's just KIKK again.

DX/RETRO: I've heard CKOM in Saskatoon once at night and KGAB in Orchard Valley, WY, once at sunset. Before XEEJ in Puerto Vallarta was retired, I used to hear it sometimes at sunrise.

Central Louisiana

First post. Been lurking about a month. New radios and hobby. Really enjoying it!

Daytime: Occasionally catch KIKK out of Houston. Never a strong signal.

Nightime: Wall to wall WSM all night. Most of the time signal is strong.

I use a C. Crane EP Pro and a C. Crane CC 2E. Internal antennas only.
