AM Frequency of the week: 730

Back when daytime DX actually was enjoyable and productive, daytimes here in NE PA was WNAK Nanticoke.

We live right around that purple contour just north of Pottsville. Nowadays here the dial is a blaze of noise even on the best radios I own.
WNAK *would* be a good barometer to hear my closest unheard. That would be WZMF or WGMF/whatever from Tunkhannock. They're NW of Scranton. Both are oldies stations on the 'Gem 104' network, along with a few translator-type extension speakers. A few years ago the two stations were a good parallel on the GE Superadio II, but that was in Hazleton outside some bodega. Hazleton is more than 10 miles from the den here, so I didn't count them. It's sort of ironic that 1460 would be the first (second?) harmonic of 730.

Sunset catches here are WDOS Oneonta NY (taped), WPAL SC, WACE Massachusetts and WEZL SC. And one late afternoon some June, CKAC was coming in with an Expos baseball game. Despite half my heritage, I don't speak French at all except for screaming at the pets. But I did get to hear the PBP man go nuts yelling 'MAR_KEEESE GREEEE-sommm' for a long interval. It might have been an inside-the-park home run.

Often a messy jumble, but usually I hear CKDM in the mix, and usually it's on top. I have caught KKDA many times and XEX quite a few times. I'm pretty sure I have caught CKAC from home before, although I don't have it on my log. 730 is less predictable for me than many of its neighbors on the dial.
