AM frequency of the week - 790 KHZ

It's mid-week & C'bo is missing in action, so I'll start the thread...

Days
WKRD Louisville

Sunrise/Sunset
WTSK Tuscaloosa AL
WQXI Atlanta GA
WHTH Heath OH

Night
WQSV Ashland City TN
WNIS Norfolk VA
WTSK Tuscaloosa AL

I could go on, but I don't want to boast, and it would all be a fabrication, so I'll stop here.

In Berkeley, CA

Daytime: Local information station from Richmond, CA (weak) or nothing at all except background hiss. Had heard KFPT clearly once during the day in San Mateo, but don't know if it's a reliable signal or not.

Nighttime: A mix of signals, with KFPT from Fresno poking through sometimes.

NE North Carolina. WNIS days and nights. Cuban time signals sometimes under WNIS at night.

In Manassas, VA,

WSVG Mt. Jackson, VA, about 60 miles west of me, weak signal during day,
As I turn the loop antenna, it's WNIS Norfolk, weaker signal.

At night, it's a mess, including WBBM's IBLOCK and the Cuban "RR" in Morse code, with WNIS on top.

How far are you from Racine? I heard WSGW quite well there days before WBBM IBOC. Where I am presently, I get a lot of CKLW adjacent interference. In winter WSGW can be quite easily heard, as it can if you go a little ways west or north most of the time.

From El Cajon, CA:

Day: semi-weak to moderate (depending on radio's sensitivity) KABC Los Angeles, with some first-adjacent QRM from local 800 XESPN Tijuana.
With a sensitive enough radio or a loop antenna, XESU Mexicali is audible under KABC in the daytime.

Night: mostly KABC, with XESU often also in there under it. There could also be other stations in there that I haven't identified yet.

790 WAEB all of the time. However it gets splatter from 800 from philadelphia.

Here is St. Petersburg, it's a weak but reliable WLBE 790 from Leesburg,FL with Radio Reloj in the background. During critical hours, it is WLBE, ESPN 790 out of South Miami with Radio Reloj.

From sunset to surise, ESPN 790 out of South Miami is dominant with Radio Reloj almost as strong, just have to have the radio toward different directions to receive one or the other. (not a trace of WLBE - Leesburg at night.
-------------------------------------------
2nd location - Eastern Hernando county (about 72 miles n.n.e. of the St. Pete location)............. daytime is a strong WLBE out of Leesburg, FL (near The Villages) and at night Radio Reloj rules, though WLBE can be heard in the background and sometime ESPN 790 can be heard in the background of the other two.

I'm about 40 miles south of Racine. The only time I ever heard WSGW during the day was when WBBM went down for about an hour.

From Tampa....

Daytime WAXY - South Miami, WLBE - Leesburg, Radio Reloj - Cuba (weakest of the three)

Nighttime Radio Reloj - Cuba (strongest), WAXY - South Miami (fades in and out and once in a while dominates Radio Reloj)

Here in Phoenix, AZ:

Day: A good enough radio can pick-up a faint KNST from Tucson, AZ broadcasting at 5000 watts.

Night: A mix-up of various stations that often have a lot of static. The usual dominant station is KABC from Los Angeles (which can be nice in the summertime to pick-up those Dodger games). If KABC broadcasted with more power than their 5000 watts, it would definitely come in better around here. The station that fights it out with KABC is a Mexican station, which I take to be XESU from Mexicali. KNST from Tucson is so weak at night (500 watts) that I have hardly ever picked it up at night around the valley.

WAXY will always be WFUN to me. In my late teens, drove down with my mom to visit an uncle who lived in Miami, and although I didn't know it at the time, but heard two of the best AM Top 40 stations in the U.S. in WFUN and WQAM.

Far northwest suburbs of Chicago......

Day....WBBM's noisemaker
Night....WBBM's noisemaker

Before the noise machine came on, at night it was usually CKSO and/or sometimes R. Reloj. Nothing during the daytime. At my location, I never have heard WSGW during the day.

It is the same way with me, I can't bring myself to call it WAXY so I just say ESPN 790, today driving around near the waterfront in St. Petersburg I wasn't really picking them up mid day, which is why I didn't list them as a daytime station; although I'm sure I have picked them up before; they do have a much better signal and coverage than they did in their heyday; I'm sure they've had a power upgrade.

WQAM Tiger Radio and FUN with a W were two great stations! lot of good memories there.

Never lived in Florida, but on a few visits in the late 60s & early 70s WFUN was a great listen along with WQAM.
Top of the hour ID: "WFUN South Miami, Miami Florida"

Here in Lake Geneva, WI (65 miles NW of Chicago's loop)

DAY
It's WBBM's IBOC all the way. I can't even get anything when I null it.

CRITICAL HOURS
I've heard WPNN (Pensacola, FL) with WBBM's IBOC hash nulled.

NIGHT
Mostly CIGM (Sudbury, ON) when WBBM's IBOC is nulled.

I used to hear Radio Reloj before Chicago needed their news in AM HD. I still sometimes hear them on 950 at night.
