What do you all get on 960 AM? Here in Vermilion, 960 during the day is a semi-weak WKVX/Wooster, OH with an oldies format. By local sunset and into the night, I hear WFIR/Roanoke, VA with a number of others under them.

Daytime: WHYL Carlisle PA(very weak)
Night: mess of stations, including Salisbury MD(forget calls)
Steve Green NEPA said:Although I live a lot closer to Mount Pocono here in PA than to Carlisle, WHYL puts in a steady signal all day. I had only caught the then-WPMR when they opened up their pattern somewhat toward me, and that was at night. Oddly, WPMR/WPLY is the newer of the two facilities and gets to stay on at night, while WHYL has to go off.
During those times I tried to hear Mt. Pocono here, I did get Sayre PA, then Roanoke and even WELI New Haven at night.

One other thing about 960. I don't hear the noise anymore -- haven't for years -- but 960 and 1270 used to have some almost indefinable background noise all the time. As best as I can describe it now, it was a low-pitched moan, like from a TV set a few rooms away. Anyone else ever get that?

If WSBC is coming in on 960, there's something wrong with either your radio or their transmitter!
Presume you mean WSBT.![]()
(For those unfamiliar, WSBC is a Chicago ethnic station on 1240).
