I live in WCGO's primary coverage in Gary Indiana. They're supposed to be only 23 watts at night, but I believe they stay on their daytime power at night. I should not get WCGO in at night (at least not like a local). WCGO has always had crappy reception in Lowell Indiana (the town I work in), but it was never a problem around St. John or Schererville Indiana (towns I travel through between Gary, where I live, & Lowell, where I work). I've even got WCGO near the old Jays Potato Chip plant on Chicago's south side at night as well. It sounds way too clear to be only 23 watts at night. I say they stay on their daytime power of 1kw at night.

By day, the surprisingly steady WMQM from Lakeland (Memphis) TN, about 110 miles as the crow flies. 50kW.

At night I figured I'd hear the same thing but discovered they're only 35 watts at night, ND. So I finally have concluded that what I'm hearing is WHIY, Huntsville, AL. Seems pretty regular, but weak. It's just 500 watts but through 6 towers, with the main lobe pointed right-direct at my town, 195 miles WSW.

I had heard the original WEUP when it was on 1600 in Huntsville in Ohio in the 80s around sunset.

Our local 1600 (WULM Springfield OH) has been broadcasting a dead carrier for a week straight.

...I used to work at WMCW. They could have done a lot more with that station, but I guess 20+ years of mismanagement doomed it. I also grew up (for the most part) in the Fox Valley of Wisconsin, where WRPN (then known as WCWC) was a local. Even there, Cedar Rapids was audible under Ripon at night; made for some interesting continuity when WCWC ran Tom Snyder's ABC talk show ;-) ...
