AM HD---anybody get any DX? Increased interference?

Ok, we've got AM HD at night. This is a curse to some, but to others an opportunity. Being a dxer, I've been trying (in vain thusfar) to get some DX from AM HD stations. Anybody get any yet? (Not addressed to the married folks on the board. We never get any! KIDDING, I was talking about DX of HD stations...and THROUGH THE AIR ON THE AM BAND, not internet streaming, wiseguys!)

Also, has anyone noticed any big change in conditions on the AM Band at night? I listened a lot last night, and received all the "usual suspects" as I checked for the clears I've always gotten. Anyone have a different experience?

I think the FCC order does not take affect for thirty days - I have not noticed any increase in interference. I called a couple of CC stations, but was met by rather hostile broadcast engineers.

I have noticed significant interference to several Chicago suburban stations in the late afternoon when DX begins to fire up, but before the Eastern time zone stations have to turn off HD Radio.

FCC order takes effect during the latter part of April, doesn't it? No night interference as of yet, because night HD has yet to occur. Will advise.

Well that could 'splain the absence of any discernable difference. It ain't different yet!

I'm really curious what it'll be like. And hopeful that it will be better than the little voice in the back of my head tells me it will be (with regard to interference). I'd hate to see the band get noisier, and analog sound worse. But I really would love to get some dx from AM HD stations. Might as well, right?

No, it will take even longer than that. The rules have to be written and published in the Federal Register...and from THAT point it's 30 or 45 days before they take effect.

Well it should be obvious why. First of all, CC doesn't pay their people worth a damn and secondly, these engineers are probably upset over the FCC ruling.

The FCC did more damage with this ruling than it can ever possibly imagine. The airwaves don't belong to the public anymore.
