AM-HD slowly disappearing in NYC?

Greetings, As of this morning (1-29) there are only three AM HD carriers left on-air: WFAN-660, WOR-710 and WABC-770.

WCBS-am seems to have discontinued it's iboc service some two weeks ago and 1280 WADo has been off since earlier this year. In the last year WNYC-am, WPAT-am and WZRC have also ceased HD operation.

I understand the technology and the fact that many of the current iboc radios did not perform well with weaker signals, but, both WNYC and especially WADO are strong here in Manhattan.

So, what gives?

WADO will be back after resolving some hardware issues.
