AM HD TURNOFF PACE ACCELERATES

Does WRDT 560 from Monroe, MI broadcast in I-BLOCK? Here in Vermilion, OH I used to be able to get 570 WKBN with a listenable signal. Not anymore as there is always some hash from another station. WRDT's analog signal isn't that great here but I can't think of what else would cause WKBN's noise floor to be much higher than it ever used to be.

A bunch of Radio Disney affiliates have gone dark, with sales pending on most of them. Hopefully if/when those stations go back on the air under new ownership, the IBOC will be left off.

Funny, the Radio Disney affiliates gain the most by being in HD. The one in my market sounds AMAZING.

Since when did their demographic listen to HD radio, or any radio at all especially AM for that matter. At this point I think they'd be better off going web and cable only. Clear Channel just launched Nick Radio as an online only station on iHeartRadio.

I was thinking more about the fidelity gained by listening to AM HD. You're absolutely right though, AM radio isn't the first thought that comes to mind when thinking about kid friendly radio.

I am pretty sure it is lower than that. I can't detect a trace of HD from 600 WMT, 640 WOI, or 910 WSUI anymore. But I don't have a working HD AM radio, so I have no way of truly confirming they are off.

If those stations are anything like my local WTAG 580 then they'll be back on. It is off and on all the time unfortunately. WQEW 1560 Disney is off quite a bit also.

Hey, the board is back! Now I can report that both HD-AM stations in Toledo turned-off their HD buzz-o-matics and put their AM audio on their FM sister-station HD-2's.

If the Dumb Box of Hair still around these boards?

I'm not in the US right now but have heard the WBZ turned off the noisemaker... but also heard they only turned it off to put in a new back up transmitter with IBOC. Strange huh?
Their old back up transmitter sounded WAY better than their IBOC'ed main transmitter. Can't confirm this as as I said I'm out of there for a while.
