I have actually enjoyed listening to the "Music of your life" format on 1480. (OK, I have to turn it off when John Denver or Anne Murray or somebody like that comes on, but still.) It's fun to listen to the big band and old standards stuff on my old tube radios. and I'm digging the 97.5 "Star" also. I'm 22 years from retirement age! should I get some sans-a-belts and a golf cart? frankly, I'm worried....
Edited by testing on 03/09/06 06:11 PM.

We're worried too, old-timer. Next you'll be eating dinner at 4:30pm and driving in the far left lane with your turn signal perpetually on. Leisure World awaits! Nurse Jeff and I think Star 97.5 is interesting, but wait til MADD finds out about their double martini lunch feature. YIKES!

Now, Doc...ease up. I've got 1480 locked in on my car radios, too. Mostly for Johnny Magnus, who I first heard when I was 6 years old on KMPC, Los Angeles (he's on 8-10PM). And I'm a big Star 97.5 fan, too. As John Lennon said: "It's all music."
Too much good radio has been lost because of posturing over what people under a certain age should want, rather than what they actually will listen to, even as a P3.

Johnny Magnus, Wink Martindale & Gary Owens?? YIKES...their combined ages approach the mileage on our '76 Gremlin Levi's Special. There is something to be said for mandatory retirement in this bidnis. That's why the Nurse and I like Star 97.5. While the music may sound old fart, the jocks don't! BTW...listen to Liddy & Hill lately? Sounds like they've lost all their out of town affiliates (was that two or three?) and are givin' it up now just for The Patriot. That Alaskan cruise might as well been on the Titanic!

Doc: Magnus is an acquired taste, but well worthwhile...one of the few guys who really knows and cares about the music. Gary Owens is the guy who made me want to get into radio. His voice isn't what it was, but he's still very funny. I'm not a huge Wink fan, but I can't knock his talent...and he sounds the same as he did at age 40. It makes no sense to take pros who have something to offer off the air and replace them with talent whose only advantage is a birthdate in a different decade.

Just ask Tisa.

Can you even get the big 1480 from 8-10pm?
(Not in Ahwatukee.)

Welllllll!!! (think Chickenman enunciation)

You may have taken your name off of KT'R's "casual
talkmeister" list with that one! ;-)

Taking Pppppreston off K'TR just accelerated the inevitable. Tisa screwed up a lot more than that!

Nurse Jeff and I are fans of Jim "Well-l-l-l-l-l" Runyon as well. Now, how about Officer 36-24-36 and the famed 'CFL mini-spin that caused listeners to tune the Big 89 for the full song?
