AM on FM In The Hudson Valley ?

Back in January BUD WILLIAMSON applied for and was granted special temporary authority to rebroadcast 950 WHVW- AM Hyde Park on 95.7 . Thankfully that never happened, and we now have WPLJ- HD2 True Oldies Channel on 95.7 because ,WHVW is mostly a waste of electricity . He said in his application that he wanted to help out the only local independent outlet . I wonder if someone would try to put another AM station on a FM translator around here , since at night they are listenable only in a very small area , and can’t compete with other stations.

Owner of WHVW wanted to rebroadcast over 95.7, but couldn't pony up the money the guy wanted to lease it. They actually had permission from the fcc to go ahead , but no $$$ to do it. Also, the owner of the repeater had concerns that the AM signal wasn't adequate for the rebroadcast. that would have worked well for the morning show which is an exceptional oldies 50's-60's show but as for the rest of it- who wants to hear yodeling on fm????

..."the owner of the repeater had concerns that the AM signal wasn't adequate for the rebroadcast"...

Huh? you don't have to rebroadcast the off air feed of the AM signal.
