AM Processing Gear Value

What is the current market value of the following pieces of equipment? Not my stuff but someone that is inquiring about a sales price.

CRL AGC-400 Audio Gain Controller
CRL APP-400 Spectral Energy Processor
CRL PMC-450 Peak Modulation Controller

These items were on my station and working fine when removed... I took them out only to replace with an Optimod.

In all honesty, a 400-series mono stack, maybe $100 per item, real world price. You'll see idiots listing that CRL stack on ebay for a grand and relisting it week after week after week... If it were mine, I'd leave it right in the rack as backup. Not that Optimods fail very often, but if it goes (can you say lightning?) you at least have something decent to fall back on.

Thanks. What you've said seems to have just been confirmed by a friend of mine.

A properly set (not easy) CRL "stack" can add a real sparkle to an AM's sound. Hard to beat an Optimod 9100 for AM, though!

I know its time is long past, but when CRL was popular, a friend put their peak limiter on an old 5kW high-level modulated Gates tube transmitter. The CRL's bass tilt control was a real revelation. When we adjusted it using a scope, it not only made the modulation much more consistent, it also totally tightened-up the sound on the bottom end. Sounded like a new transmitter.

Kind Regards,
David

For the money, I really like the Omnia AM1A... I have a 1kw daytimer that sports one and it sounds great!

Put the CRL on the air Friday to do some maintainance to the 9200. Still sounds really good.
Does your PMC-450 have the NRSC filters in it?

How does it sound with music? I've seen mixed reviews about the Omnia AM1 when it processes music. Apparently though it is excellent for any kind of Talk format.

I'll have to check. I should mention that these units are not for sale. Apparently they are going to be traded in at the current value for a Hamilton Rangemaster Part 15 AM transmitter.

The PMC-450 was specifically designed with NRSC pre-emphasis and filtering in mind. Only the older models needed to have the NRSC modifications added later.
