AM question

An AM station puts its transmitter back on the air, just to keep its license active. It broadcasts nothing but the carrier, and no ID whatsoever. Does this somehow qualify as keeping its broadcast license active until it moves to the Houston area if it ever does?

Has anyone guessed this station yet? Its been like this now for two weeks.

Dead carrier is more than they've got up in Shenandoah. How long do you think it'll be before the switch happens? I hope that we both live to see KRCM head this way....but I'm not holding my breath.

BTW stan, has KOLE returned to the air with classical music again? I heard some hit and miss classical on 1340 here in Houston and figured it had to be coming from your neck of the woods.

Nope.

The FCC recently found against an Alabama TV station. They'd been off the air for financial reasons for nearly a year when they lit up the transmitter with a test pattern just to keep the license.

Commission ruled a test pattern didn't constitute "broadcasting", and that the station's license was forfeit for being off the air more than a year.

No, KOLE switched to gospel and calls itself 'Divine Touch 1340'. They even state they will have live people on the air soon.
